Disturbed/Metallica/bit of Trivium/Lordi!/S club 7/Iron Maiden , etc
Iron Maiden! :eusa_danc
Yeah, never follow music websites's definition of genres. For example, AOL the other day said "Grunge is back" and then listed McFly, Avril lavigne and Fallout Boy.
You're kidding :P that's just.. eurgh..
I hope music gets revived, Hendrix rises from the grave, led zepp reform, dire straits release some new songs!
Because quite frankly i'm sick of "indie" and "pop/rock" eurgh.. bunch of ponses.
Roll on classic rockkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
I agree "indie" which is meant to be independant and unknown is for some reason the label of modern light rock bands who are internationally famous. And as for pop-rock, EUGH.
I am to be honest, not a fan of classic rock too much. I prefer modern heavy rock like Disturbed, Three Days Grace, and of course, the greatest band in the world, Breaking Benjamin.
i give up on genres since i saw the cooper temple clause classified as post-hardcore, when they're about as hardcore as a knited jumper.
what i dont get with indie, is if its meant to be indiependant and all that, a lot really does sound the same. dont get me wrong, i may not be the world's greatest lover of indie, but i dont hate it, it just strikes me as odd
ACTUALLY, Disturbed PUBLICALLY CLASSED THEMSELVES as heavy rock, and said that they do not fall into the metal genre. Breaking Benjamin are predominantly heavy rock as well as post-grunge and alternative and Three Days Grace are the same.
So thanks for your wrong information, pal. But I know music, and I know those three particular bands better than most. Hell, I personally know Ben Burnley.
They aren't heavy rock though:S They are alternative, not heavy and not even "rock" sorta music, it's alternative. BB and TDG are post grunge/alternative. Not one bit heavy, they're crap but they're not heavy.
So take YOUR false information elsewhere, you "know" Ben Burnley but you don't know music genres. Fool -_-
Just looking through your music list on your profile, let me guess next you're going to call Staind "heavy rock" then?
Disturbed are defenitely heavy rock..
and I can live in the past all I like ;) give me on band that can match queen/rolling stones/led zeppelin/genesis/guns n roses/jimi hendrix please.
Slayer rock.
heavy metal.
KsE , Slayer , Slipknot? , 36 Crazyfists etc
Abigail Williams, Beneath The Massacre, Cradle Of Filth, Severed Savior, etc.
My favorite metal bands are Coldplay, The Unicorns, Justin Timberlake, The Shins, and Green Day
Independent means independent label. It has nothing to do with how well known you are or what you sound like. Arctic Monkeys had the fastest selling debut album in UK history last year but they're still indie because they're on Domino which is an independently owned label. Indie bands are seen as "unknown" because they have much less marketing and in general have a non radio-friendly style.
Classic Rock is super overrated.
lol @ you missing the fact i just called Justin Timberlake heavy metal and went to Green Day. yeah, i was making a joke, i was just testing people's reactions.
The same reason every genre sounds the same. You're just hearing what's on the radio; Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand etc. These are just indie bands that have a much more accessible and radio-friendly style and are much more commonly known, but certainly do not speak for the entire indie genre. Listen to rap on the radio, it sounds all the same. But anyone can tell you that what's on the radio really isnt what the whole genre is like.
Wouldn't agree that classic rock is over-rated, the beatles/led zeppelin/jimi hendrix founded so much music for the bands playing now
True, but seriously... it's old. And thats pretty much the reason that it is influential. They were just at the start of this whole music revolution. There wasen't much to turn to.
And The Beatles alone had almost as many songs as everything from the 90's put together on the Rolling Stone "500 Greatest Songs" list, classic rock wasen't that great.
