What I don't get is if they already knew it was dangerous conditions for aircraft, why didn't they close the runway? - Because it's all about money money money?
RIP to all onboard.

thats really bad! =l
Oh great a bloody Airbus A320 WHICH i most likely be going on in like weeks time. R.I.P to all who died.
the aircraft was not the fault of thecrash matt, it was the conditioons of the runway. maybe the brakes though.
Airbus still have a bad name says Adam lol
"Brazilian plane crash 'kills 200'"
apparantly 200 are dead?
R.I.P them people.
RIP all passenger
lol matt, alcohol, I don't think an a320 can hold 200 people I think its 195 they can hold :D
Some Info.Quote:
# 17 July 2007 - TAM Linhas Aéreas Flight 3054, an A320-233 skidded off the end of the runway while landing in heavy rain at Congonhas International Airport in São Paulo, Brazil. All 176 passengers and crew were killed with further reported fatalities on the ground.[20]
Can no one read lately?
"Rescue crews said none of the 186 people on board the Airbus A320 could have survived, while more people were killed on the ground."
Also, it wasn't the 'scarebus,' the thread title is miss leading. It was the condition which may be slightly down to the Airbus not beeing properly tested in these sort of conditions. Anyway, all planes need to havea crash at least once, it just so happens a new one has had one. Hardly a big deal "/
The Runway had recently been resurfaced and the proper ridges had not been made and there was not enough traction and it was slight wet so the rain could drain away.
Airbusses nickname is Scarebus :|
No it's not a big deal that 200 people are dead because the airport just want money money money and kept a clearly obvious dangerous runway open.. Same problem in Bristol, the runway was closed and properly "grooved" - And that was just because aircraft reported "skidding" on landing.
Meh, maybe they should re-surface the touchdown area of Runway 23 at Stansted.. Thats pretty much like an ice ring!
