Ha ha.
Government failed as per usual
Unlucky mate.
wow imagine access to 25m accounts lol, if it got in wrong hands the person could slider £5 off every account and be like 125m rich?!!?! lol
anyways, why the hell would they even "post" such a important stuff like that.
This is another example of why we shouldn't have a national database.
=/ how do you lose 25 million records o.O
There must be hundreds of backups
Rofl. at that.
Now, i gonna lose money ;(
Glad my parents don't get child benefits.
Some people could be in real danger - Even though they have said there is no indication that frauds have the records - Only time will tell.
How are there that many records :S The population of the UK is only: 60,776,238, according to google figures. So they must have records from overseas too :S
this is ******* stupid. yes im going to ******* swear as this matter involves me and my family. why cant she ****** ******* government actually keep things safe these days? im incredably appauled and the man who was blamed should be shot im afraid.
my mum works for HM Revenue and Customs. Although only in the customs department. So stupid when the two merged
ANYWAY. Not very good for people who recieve child benefits
the 25million consist of All parents claiming child benefit and all the kids they claim it for.
I would guess 85% - 95% of the users on this forum are affected
They lost bank account details (that the benefit was paid into)
national insurance numbers.
Dates of birth
Addresses
etc
All can be easily used in ID fraud and when the child is older the people can use their details to obtain credit etc.
Somebodys in trouuublllleeeee.
Thats just silly, how can you lose that many records...
it was on 2 disks and posted unregistered using internal post by TNT :o they dont even know if they were even posted :o
they had not even encrypted the disks ;o
also it was a junior clerk or something who posted them :s junior clerks have access to some serious data :o
surely this is against the data protection?
Pretty messed up. This effects a hell of alot of people too! Everyone with kids ages 0-17 I belive.
I didn't think everyone did? Even if you have more than one kid?
Rofl, they posted 2 DISC?
they cant hold half of UK data ;/
lol that's funny
