As the title says, what are you views on the proposed Amero, or the North American Union.
North American Union
What is the plan? Simple, erase the borders. USA, Canada and Mexico will be joined as one. (Note: This has already started to take effect. New Canadian driving licences contain the NAU logo on them)
Amero
What is the plan? Simple, become like the Euro. Scrap the USD and CAD, and make it into the Amero. (Note: This currency is already in production)
Won't make much difference, just means that the Asian and African countries will then do something similar and we'll just have continents instead of countries. It's probably a reply to Europe, gonna offer up competition which could be good for trade, as competition around you always means you can get better deals
Given the USD is falling at a dramatic rate, I can see them implementing this sooner, rather than later. Currently its received very little publicity, and I only knew about it as I'm studying economics.
If it was to benefit the entire world, they'd of ensured it was public, as they did with Europe.
Won't be long before the entire world trades in the same currency ;)
A rival to the EU then eh?
I'm surprised that they are opening up borders with mexico as they have terrible problems with illegal immigration.
If they open the borders then immigration won't be seen as a problem and they won't have to deal with it ^_^
Well, I think Amero is horrible to prounounce, assuming I'm pronouncing it correctly; "uh-mair-row".
Whats so bad with keeping them how they are?

And this is a great idea for AMERICA, what with the falling value of the dollar and the declining economy due to importation/exportation from china and other rising countries..but Canada and Mexico wise.. I'm not entirely sure it will be the greatest idea for those two countries..
tbh Amero sounds like a cheap rip-off of the Euro. Haha. The USA has the largest economy, but it's starting show cracks (mortgage crisis).
The EU is already looking pretty solid as one bloc atm.

I disagree, certain countrys will not have as mant resouces as others so it would be a drain on the economy. I am against unions, especially as the UN, EU and UK unions are all so corrupt and unfair.

We all vote for our MEPs in the EU - it's a democracy (The USSR wasn't, and it was communist) Also, each state has a period of presidency. The UK's wasn't too long ago (though i believe everyone in the EU should vote for a single person to become president). And we won't loose our identity, we speak English. The Americans already think of us as 'Europe' and they don't even know the difference between Britain, the UK and England.Noone really cares about us as a nation.Quote:

Most countries have different parts which are richer than other. Wales for example has a worse economy than some states in the EU and the south of Italy is much poorer than the north. The EU has the largest economy in the world. Though atm i think it's the wrong time to revert to the euro. Our pound is particularly strong at the moment.
Just because some political parties vote for some left wing pro-euro polititions in the EU doesn't mean it's a democracy. The EU is dominated by Left wingers and nations such as France and Germany push us around. I know my parents voted for the East Midlands' MEP, people vote in the MEPs (at least in this country). Labour won because of Scotland, I am english therefore the Labour Government isn't my countrys choice. The Conservatives also got many more votes than Labour but the way the seat system works it kept Labour in power. Labour also promised in their manifesto that their would be a poll on EU membership, this seems to have disappeared now?Quote:

- The UN already has all of these laws in place so the point of the EU is what?
- The EU does normally overule decisions as they are left wing, therefore they support shorter prison terms and so on. The majority of this country are right wing Conservatives whether you like it or not, and they do not want brussels having power over our justice system turning it into more of a joke than it already is.
- If a evil government did get into power in our country there would probably be a coup by the military.
