I was bored so I decided to try and make a hosting sort of layout in photoshop and I was wondering what you think of it.

It's great for a first in Photoshop! Welcome, now you'll get hooked on it. :) It doesn't really jump out to me that it is meant for hosting, it seems very blog-ish. I'd look around hosting sights and try adapting the style they all use.

I think it's a great layout for a hosting site. Can I suggest you space the navigation out more, looks very cramped IMO.
