Well there should be ten. The extra ones could be training or something. Also, not sure why they are there. Maybe just practicing for the coming air show events.
When I meant air shows, i meant it like the red arrows like to practice for the upcoming displays in the next few months. Just because it's the second longest runway in Britain and is right on the coast, is really nothing to do with it. They practice all around the country and around the world at times. But you do have a point in ways :)
There are 10 red arrows but they usually fly with 9 of them.
You been out to see them?
They start doing there events in May, so they are probable practicing.
Are you sure that they are Red Arrows?
There are only ten hawks painted with that livery in existance so it's impossible for there to be 12.
I live about 5 minutes from where the reds are (currently) based.
They could be practising for something or just simply creating new routines, they do it around here all the time but are restricted due to large objects.
Well, there were 12 planes, 10 were defintaly red arrows, the other 2 seemed to be flying just under them and we not flying in formations like the others. We quite often have they training here so i recongnized em str8 away.
There is 12 planes made for the "Red Arrows", he could be right. The extra ones could be technical flights, training flights etc. I suppose they use the extra ones in case they have problems with the others.
Quote:
The Red Arrows use a distinctive type of aircraft in their displays – the BAE Systems Hawk T Mk1/1a. There are 12 of these British-made aircraft in use with the Red Arrows.
