It was unclear whether the hedgehog was still alive when it was thrown, though it was dead when collected as evidence.

The police spokesman said the suspect was arrested "for assault with a weapon, namely the hedgehog."

Mr Singalargh is due to appear in court on 17 April. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison.

The Hedgehog could of been dead, but 5 YEARS for just a bad head injury? You only get 3 years for murder in this country! God they'd be no such thing as chav's if we had sentencing like New Zealand.

Three years for murder in this country? What country do you live in? :S

Cus in England you get a life sentance the majority of the time for murder, which is minimum of 25 years..

The minimum for a life sentence is 15 years.
