Anybody listen to rage against the machine?
me, they're amazing.
I really want to go to reading and see 'em :(
the thing i find with rage against the machine is that even tho tom morrello is hailed as one of the best guitarists ever, all he can ever do is that stupid high pitched sound he does on all of the songs. if you dont get me, ill try and find it on youtube or something like that
They're alright, couldn't listen to a whole album at once though since all the songs sound the same :l
it's incredibly innovative, and it's not all the same, he a lot of techniques. i know what you mean, but there's a few compilation videos, you can see all the different stuff he does. i love guitarists who can make a guitar not even sound like a guitar, like tom morello, jonny greenwood, graham coxon, or issac brock in the early modest mouse days. its way more interesting than all the textbook scales that heavy metal bands think is impressive, which really isnt at all.
and rage against the machine is probably one of the only bands who can get away with having every song sound the same since the purpose of their songs are the politics, haha.
opensourcehost is a very big fan ;)
Well yes but Greenday have their place I think and have come out with some good songs. I am more interested in the art of song-writing than being politically motivated I guess which is why I prefer AudioSlave. It's all pretty subjective though and people's tastes and preferences are so different as to what is good and what is not.
I'm not a big RATM fan but I do really like some songs.
Well, what I mean is Rage Against the Machine actually is involved in political activism, while Green Day just made a couple rock songs. When you listen to the two, you can tell which one actually means what it says, and is not just jumping on the "I hate G.W. Bush" bandwagon.
will be seeing them at reading festival, so gonna check our their stuff soon
RATM are ok, haven't really payed much attention to them. I love the intro the Killing in the name of.
I'm sure they're wonderful musicians, creative and all that, but most of their songs sound the same to me.
Not a HUGE fan but i like Killing In The Name Of. Seeing them at Leeds Fest :)
RATM rock! :D:D:D Personally my favorite band ever! :) Anyone who likes Rage are automatically the coolest people on Earth! :P (note the signature)

I like the song Bulls On Parade.
I must say, over the past year or so I've found myself listening to them a lot, they're pretty amazing.
Liked them when i was 13... times have changed
political music doesnt tend to appeal to me much.
songs about people, society and situations are wayyy better.
reading here i come
they're pretty good, i used to love them. hardly listen to them much anymore, but i'll probably see them at reading.
wow, i just listened to them for the first time today, and they're bloody good!
