what do you mean? will they stop supporting it? i doubt it coz they still support 2000 and 98
Its going off the shelves
oh, its not the end of XP its the end of the XP sales.
not sure witch os's are supported at the moment, microsoft are trying to get rid of most of the older ones

XP support terminated 2010. However Microsoft after this date shall continue supporting XP for UMPC and ULPC users.
They will stop SUPPORTING it fairly soon though.
I recently downgraded from Vista to XP actually. Can't stand Vista.
oh, in 2010 is fine ill probably have had 2 new computers by then.
By 2010 windwos 7 will be out?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7Quote:
Windows 7 is expected to be released sometime in 2010
as soon as I get my 2GB, is the minute I upgrade =)
Trying vista SP1 with 512mb ram was fine as well :) just slightly lagy.
I dual boot, and i use vista as my main, and only use xp for programs that dont work, but is annoying since i cant find this driver for my wireless card
The XP drivers generally work in Vista...
But Vista drivers dont work in XP ;)
It wont have much effect, most computer's now have Vista built in, and Xp is running in the dark.
When Windows Vienna comes out, It will be just as popular, and this time in 4 years, Vista will be in the background :P
Very true. And people will also be saying OMG I hate Vienna blah blah blah like they do with vista now.
I've just read they're now supporting until 2014. http://www.heise.de/english/newsticker/news/107859
I remember XP being hated, it's just Vista's turn to be infamous.
it was 2 years, not fairly soon...now it's 6 years.
Then remind me not to get Windows 7 ;).
Vista's good depending on how good ones computer is. I've ran it on a 1.8Ghz, 1GB ram system and it was terrible. It works well, however, on my Duo core 2.0Ghz 2.5GB ram notebook. It's a resource hog, but I like it.
I hope you have a pagefile :D.
XP > Vista
Microsoft make my stomach turn, they need to get back to pleasing customers rather than their accountants.
I don't really mind that XP is going off the market. I've recently bought an iMac and my laptop is running Vista and it's just fine.
It is funny how a lot of people diss Microsoft yet i reckon about %90 use their products.. whether it is their OS or the Office Suit! or even Windows Live Messenger..
I strongly dislike Microsoft. They shouldn't be where they are, they are all built upon stealing from Apple in the first place. Without Apple Microsoft most likely would never have existed.
The only reason 90% of people use Microsoft is just that - 90% of people use it. If all your friends and family are using it you most likely will too because it's easy to communicate. For example I am the only one in my entire town who uses Apple Mac, out of 2000 people only 1 person uses it. However it doesn't mean they love Microsoft, they just think they have to use their stuff as everyone else is.
The only thing I use that Microsoft made is Hotmail due to the fact I registered the account when I was pretty young and have kept it the whole time.
Not true, I dont like the Mac OS as a whole, the hardware is good although its expensive but I cant help but feel OSX is just trying to look good. Yes Microsoft steal features etc and I hate that but at the end of the day in my opinion they are coming out with a better and more supported product so I buy it.
It's called progress, Apple steals ideas and systems and Microsoft steals etc etc. You get it with the 3 main game consoles, Wii, PS3 and 360. The main reason Vista or any PC running Windows is so successful is that they do a hell of a lot more, run alot more, upgrade easier and cost alot less. You could say with a Mac you pay for quality, but I would rather pay for something a little cheaper which has minor issues, than a system which thinks deleting it's own OS is a good idea like my aunty's MacBook did, not to mention when they crash they win the gold medal for crashing. Also, you don't get annoying adverts from Windows/Microsoft while with Apple you get these outragiously crap adverts that lie and are aimed at stupid people. The adverts make it seem all laptops and PCs are made by Microsoft, and completely forget that all laptops are different depending on company. Not forgetting that Microsoft don't need to advertise, they'll always be popular as far as people can see.
Vista is actually doing far better than XP did when it was first launched in terms of bugs and users.
Yes and the same goes for you, Apple would no longer be here if it wasn't for Microsoft.
Remember in 1997 when your 'great', 'overpriced' company was almost bankrupt?
Was it Microsoft who decided to launch the best Office suite for Mac? Did they also buy shares and bring in money?
Macworld 97 ;)

Oh god XP's getting old we're all going to die.
Get over it.
(says the guy who's running XP haha)
I'm not too sure if I'll get window 10 or stay with XP it depends on the requirements and features, see if its worth it or not, like vista isn’t worth upgrading your computer to double the specs just for basically a graphical improvement.
(oh please don't say try vista its worth it, I had vista from november 06 (yes, I got it before public release) unitll around February/March 07 when i went back to XP.)
