Seriously consider waiting, its amazing how fast it fills up. I have the 20GB and I have no music on the xbox and its practically full. Demo's and videos take up quite a bit so it could be worth while holding off considering the 60GB when released will replace the 20GB and will therfore cost the same :)
But yeah, you have a one year standard warranty where if it breaks they will fix it - After that, you have a 3 Year RROD warranty which I actually believe comes into play from date of purchase so its only really a 2 year warranty.
Game saves tend to be really small unless you get DLC which then makes it a hell of a lot more, Demos range from around 100MB into around 1.5GB, Videos can sometimes be a hell of alot (Especially the MS Video Rentals), Arcade games are anywhere from KB to MB (Cant give specifics, but I haven't seen an arcade game that was over a GB)
