Will a 500w psu be powerful enough to cope with this or will i need to stick a more powerful one in?
What brand is the PSU? If it's a default/generic one then i'd recomment getting a better one for the 9800GTX.

So something like that?
Yes, something like the one you posted, or a better brand but lower power rating like this. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/116522
mmm.. the first one is better calue
It'll be fine, get a nice branded one. You don't really need to be buying a 700w PSU for that though, save yourself abit of cash.
Get a DECENT BRAND PSU fgs
none of this artic power or whatever crap you want, get corsair or OCZ if your getting off ebuyer.
It should be, I'm getting a 500W PSU with my new rig and a 9800GTX overclocked. Should be fine.
Then wait 2 months for it to blow
Get Corsair or OCZ or something.
mmm maybe you're right...

What about this one?
(sorry to double post)
Ye but it's a good price.. plus i was thinking i may get a slightly more powerful card
Yes it is a good price. What card you looking at? You only really need something like that if you're SLi-ing.
Gtx 260 most likely
You know.. just slightly
If you get that i suggest getting it from EVGA as they offer free futuremark subscription and a game usually (i'm sure its currently farcry 2 and futuremark )
BFG do that too. And you get a free torch
I was gonna go for the asus one but i s'pose an extra £20 couldn't hurt
Is there really any difference between the SSC, Superclocked and FTW editions?
They are overclocked as stock. The SSC comes with a 626MHz core and the FTW comes with a 666MHz core.
Ah i see. Now to check if it'll actually fit.... beast of a card
I doubt it, looking at your case, but best to measure I guess! :P
Hmm.. i have 11inches of space and the card is 10.5 inches
:l
LMAO. Don't forget to add some space for cables..
Looks like i'll be adding a new case to my list too LOL
The PCI-E power connectors are not on the side of the card that is facing the front of the case. They are on the side pointing towards the side panel so you should be fine
Thought so.
Yeah but there is still only like a cm of space between the hdd bay and the card... i could just remove th hdd bays and use that http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...37866&DOY=8m11
Dooood itll be fine!
It will be fine. Besides, the cold air to cool the card comes from below it, not beside it
Tbh i guess you're right.. there's just a niggling at the back of my brain saying "What if it doesnt fit?"
Then you can wait then buy a case and stuff after.
That's what i was thinking. So yeah, im gonna get it along with that

You dont really need a 1000w, but I guess that price isn't bad for one anyway.
I laugh at you Soy.
Ill probs go with the OCZ one
