Virus protection

Do you use it? I don't because I don't see the need for it, as long as I know what I'm downloading is safe I will be fine :P Vote in poll.

I just use NOD32. Although I dunno why :P

I made a threat similar to this, post your anti virus, it got closed

its not just what you d/l you know... and what about other OS's?

i use AVG. had Norton but never renewed

I didn't include linux because there are such a small number of viruses made for them.

I don't, because i'm not stupid enough to download something I don't trust.

You obviously do, how else would it get on your computer with out your computer downloading it?

I use COMODO internet security.

yes but you not realising your downloading is one way. Opening a link from an email or whatever, etc

I use avast. It is always good to know you are safe.

I use NOD32 also, Kaspersky and NOD32 are the leading in the market.

On my PC I run AVG. On my Mac I don't run anything (yet, I haven't looked into getting virus protection for my mac because I don't know what I'm exposed to).

I'm sure you're well aware that Mac's cannot get virus's and there is none or hardly any known therefore you don't need protection. So you saying 'I havent had a virus' is slightly obvious if it's impossible (or near enough) for you to get a virus.

How do you know I don't own a Windows laptop? (which as a matter of fact I do, but it broke because Fujitsu Siemens sucks ass)

The point is, in the poll there is an option to select 'No, I'm on OSX'. Also, why does it mean you have to say something like that to me? :S

Yes but yet again I come back to the point, why say you haven't had a virus when you can't get a virus. Why not just post saying you use a Mac or something. It's like me saying I didn't go through the menstrual cycle last month.

I know you're a huge fan of your Mac and you never seem to mention your laptop other than yesterday when you were moaning it was broken and how Fujitsu Siemens is unreliable. You've never once included it in your setup so I can be quite sure in knowing that you don't use Windows (Other than perhaps at school or on other computers you don't own).

There's a difference here between you saying you haven't had your menstrual cycle last month and him now having a virus in 366 days....it's kind of obvious....

Because typically Windows users who see users who talk about Macs typically assume the Mac user only uses OSX.

I have a PC. I haven't had a virus for the 2 and a half years i've had this laptop. So what?

Well it is possible to get a virus on a Mac, so, my post was valid. Oh and btw this thread is the only time I've ever mentioned my Windows laptop and the fact it sucks (30 mins ago).

The chances of getting a virus on the Mac are minuscule, therefore it's nit-picking if you really think there is a threat.

The point of Mac OS Anti-Virus's are to detect Windows Virus's so you don't pass them on in an email, even though they maybe harmless to you they can harm your other computers or friends.

The thing about websites these days is, they can tell what operating system your running, they can then offer you the windows virus or the mac virus, If i personally had a mac i wouldn't surf without protection

You can still be infected via a exploit in a open port, cookie viruses etc. There is always a need for a anti virus. "Going on the internet without a anti virus, is like having sex unprotected with a *****".

Yeah. I hate it when Mac users boast about not having viruses when PCs are dreadful for viruses. Macs don't have many viruses yeah...but when your PC contracts a virus it's your own fault (although I did get a virus 12 days ago:P).

Windows is more commonly targeted as it's more popular. There's still viruses aimed at the Mac...they're mostly a proof of concept thing though..

The market share thing is absolute bull. Any virus-creator would love to create a virus for OS X, just to be known as the first person to do it never-mind if it never hit anyone.
