I'm sure my bank gave me one like 3 years ago without me having to ask. Maybe my mum did though.
I got my first debit solo at 15. Now im 16 ive got a Barclays Visa debit card and still got my natwest solo card.

Halifax Expresscash gives over12s debit cards. Its what I use.
I remember being confused because someone said they were changing Solo to Visa Electron (that's what I had) but I didn't hear anything else of it. Online I just put it down as Visa and it seems to work :)
i've got a nationwide smart card too and i ******* HATE it, i'm getting a debit card at the end of january hopefully.
I first got my debit card at 18. The bank sent me it to replace my credit card.

With the nationwide you have to 18 to have a debit card so i gave up and opened another account with the halifax lol
Nationwide are a wierd beast, They only issue the cashcard and then full visa debit and you can't get Visa Debit until your 18 (Unless you get a Visa Electron card branded as a Visa Debit)Quote:

HSBC is 13 anyways.
