I'd like it to be all of the R.O.I
But obviously they don't want that.
Can't they have a refurendum (?) to make it that way?
In 1973 there was a referendum, 98% voted to stay within the UK.
Oh well.
Idc really.
I just hate when on the news they cut us out :'(
What do you mean cut out?
in the weather
lmao.
looks ugly without us IMO
8D
(jk btw)
Yeah but you know.. the BBC for the UK.... Why would they bother showing the Republic.. that would be like showing France
i want it to be part of the UK, and really, it WILL stay like that as the nationalists have more of a majority over the unionists in northern ireland.
Actually the majority want it to be united.
It's like 55% catholic now, last time I checked :P
Well not united but I assume the majority of those would vote for united.
Im not bothered really by either.
Its ridiculous that people ask this question and I dont mean to sound rude its just because I hate it so much. Northern Ireland will always be british, we will always say no surrender to dissident cowards from ireland and if that fateful day comes when Northern Ireland gets handed over like some sort of toy we will rebel against it.
Im disgusted and shocked with the murders of those 3 poor men but now Im also worried that loyalist groups in Northern Ireland will try to avenge their countrymen by plotting attacks on Irish people down south, I dont want to see anyone killed except paramilitary groups and their members and I hope to god the IRA members who murdered those soldiers and the policeman are killed.
If you want NI to remain british then you are a Unionist, Nationalist's are mainly the people who want it to be part of Ireland
The Brittish have murdered, plundered, stolen, and raped the good people of Ireland for hundreds of years. Its 2009 and its time the brittish caught on to the notion that they are not welcome and never have been. Scotland won thier freedom but have left ireland to fend for itself and america has done little to help . Why cant Brits just leave ireland alone?? Its the same as the palestinians and the Israelis who will not leave them alone. Are you not ashamed?
I think all this should stop the IRA are not doing the right thing
They used to and possibly still do for the BBC News at 10pm weather :D
It's whatever the N.I. people want, and if the old referendum is anything to go by, then it should; stay as part of the UK. But that's of course if people in N.I. still stick by what they said 30 years ago...
Northern Ireland is 55-60% Catholic now though, a redferendum would show differernt results that it did 40 some years ago.
Yes but your forgetting what Richie mentioning that the british army has murdered innocent also.
Think of how many people from Ireland the British army have killed!
I dont wana arguement but think of how many people where murdered in dublin bk in the day also a little off topicness but then people from N Ireland wanted too march through dublin with the orange flag, there were riots over it because we wouldnt let it happen why do you think we didnt let it happen because thousands of Irish people where killed in dublin over this!
Pfft and the Irish get blammed for the riot!
Well, is should be the choice of the people in northern Ireland, and these killings and stuff will not make the UK surrender to the IRA?
(I think its the IRA who are in ireland that want northern ireland right?)
This is typical socialist nationalism, the British Empire BUILT your countries, sad to say it but we built most of Africa, India & Ireland up from NOTHING.
You will all deny it as usual, but i'm afraid the British Empire didn't just build you up, yes we did invade and take over a lot of places, most of which didn't even have borders/governments (Africa) but we saved the world from the evil that was the Thrid Reich, so instead of living in a pre-British Imperial world right now, you'd be living in a Third Reich World dictatorship.
Ireland was already civilized before the british came though :/
It had it's own government that was ruled from Dublin.
Alot of other men fought in ww2 and died in that war that werent british.
Yes, many did, but many were still living in poverty before the Empire came about and changed the face of the world with the Industrial Revolution. Britain brought wealth to Ireland and other countries. Also yes, thats my point. A United Kingdom, A United Empire helped defeat the Third Reich, and without that Empire it probably would not have been possible.
Just as a matter of interest, Does England learn anything about Irish History?
I think the United Kingdom is taught, and the sylibus was changed this year so I wouldn't know. Even if it is not, remember that the United Kingdom as a whole is taught, and when we talk about WW1/WW2/Empire it includes all of the Empire, especially the United Kingdom.
I dont agree with what the IRA are doing, but people are saying how bad the IRA are just remember bloody sunday
However Bloody Sunday was a isolated incident, and yes any killing of innocents is awful and tragic. The IRA on the other hand has not only attacked Northern Ireland, but also cities in England like my own city of Liverpool. The IRA goes out of its way to kill innocent people using terrorist methods.
from the fact of were i live, like the most unionist town in northern ireland, and the fact im doing alevel history i should have known the difference there lol
but from doing alevel history ive learnt that i can see into both sides, but i dont WANT a united ireland
I think it should belong to Ireland.. because were a country... =S not as if theres a big gap between the republic and the north.. and it's Ireland.. like it's as if it's a different country not belonging to us idkkkkk.
i just still think that sinn fein are a bunch of terrorists if im honest
like they are the political arm of the IRA
and my ict teacher was saying Martin McGuinness was seen about 20 years ago armed part of the IRA so yanno
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...dy-Sunday.html
Quote:
Fresh intelligence has been given to the Saville Inquiry claiming that Sinn Fein's Martin McGuinness was armed with a weapon on Bloody Sunday.
Barrister Gerard Elias QC, who represents some of the soldiers, told the Inquiry there was new evidence that Mr McGuinness, who was second in command of the IRA in the city at the time, was in possession of a Thompson sub machine gun.
In the document presented to the Inquiry, an unknown source said he saw Mr McGuinness, who was then second in command of the IRA with a Thompson sub-machine gun concealed under his coat.
The Sinn Fein chief negotiator, who is due to give evidence to the inquiry when it returns to Londonderry, has already submitted a statement confirming he was on the march on Bloody Sunday but denying he was armed.
The inquiry, which is currently sitting in London, is investigating the events of January 30, 1972 when 13 civilians were shot dead by soldiers during a civil rights march in the Bogside area of Londonderry.
Meanwhile the inquiry has refused to set a deadline for more IRA witnesses to make statements.
Edwin Glasgow QC, representing most of the paratroopers, asked the tribunal to rule that former IRA members had until next month to come forward to the inquiry.
But Tribunal chairman Lord Saville said that while statements must be received quickly, it would be wrong to set an arbitrary deadline.
Tell that to your Damilola Taylors :S But I always want my country of Northern Ireland to be British, Id hate to be affiliated with Ireland in any way. There are Irish people up north still who say to me that they hate living there in British rule and I think its like the muslim hate preachers who ******* our boys the other day, piss off to your own home then and stop defiling ours. The famine's over ;)
I dont agree with what there doing, but they just are trying to get our country back and perhaps revenge?
Also people are saying N Ireland is not part of Ireland when it clearly is and think about this if Ireland had a big enough force to take over london, would you still class London as England and would you find it fair to say thats apart of england just give us it back
If ireland took over england then it wouldn't be the people of englands choice to go with ireland?
from what im aware NI had chose UK?
