In 1973 there was a referendum, 98% voted to stay within the UK.

i want it to be part of the UK, and really, it WILL stay like that as the nationalists have more of a majority over the unionists in northern ireland.

Its ridiculous that people ask this question and I dont mean to sound rude its just because I hate it so much. Northern Ireland will always be british, we will always say no surrender to dissident cowards from ireland and if that fateful day comes when Northern Ireland gets handed over like some sort of toy we will rebel against it.
Im disgusted and shocked with the murders of those 3 poor men but now Im also worried that loyalist groups in Northern Ireland will try to avenge their countrymen by plotting attacks on Irish people down south, I dont want to see anyone killed except paramilitary groups and their members and I hope to god the IRA members who murdered those soldiers and the policeman are killed.

In what way has Scotland separated from the UK? Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales all have their own Parliaments now due to referendums in the late '90s but they're still governed from London in most respects.Quote:

Northern Ireland is 55-60% Catholic now though, a redferendum would show differernt results that it did 40 some years ago.

Alot of other men fought in ww2 and died in that war that werent british.
Yes, many did, but many were still living in poverty before the Empire came about and changed the face of the world with the Industrial Revolution. Britain brought wealth to Ireland and other countries. Also yes, thats my point. A United Kingdom, A United Empire helped defeat the Third Reich, and without that Empire it probably would not have been possible.
Just as a matter of interest, Does England learn anything about Irish History?
I think the United Kingdom is taught, and the sylibus was changed this year so I wouldn't know. Even if it is not, remember that the United Kingdom as a whole is taught, and when we talk about WW1/WW2/Empire it includes all of the Empire, especially the United Kingdom.

However Bloody Sunday was a isolated incident, and yes any killing of innocents is awful and tragic. The IRA on the other hand has not only attacked Northern Ireland, but also cities in England like my own city of Liverpool.
