Final polls ahead of European Elections

European Elections YouGov Poll

26% - Conservatives
18% - United Kingdom Independance Party
16% - Labour Party
15% - Liberal Democrats
10% - Green Party
5% - British National Party

General Election YouGov Poll

37% - Conservatives
21% - Labour Party
19% - Liberal Democrats
23% - Others (combined)

If these results do indeed play out in tommorows elections we could see the end of Gordon Brown as according to Sky News emails are circulating among Labour backbench MP's that are indicating a move to oust the Prime Minister. The expenses scandel has seen support for fringe partys surge and support has mainly gone to the euro-sceptic UKIP. BNP polling figures are still very unstable as many believe people who have been asked in these surveys will not own up to intending to vote for the BNP.

If tommorow plays out as the polls suggest, the Conservatives will remain the dominent party in Brussels, UKIP will over double its numbers of MEP's in the European Parliament, Labour will lose seats and raises futher doubt over the future of Gordon Brown, the Liberal Democrats will make little gain/slight loss, the Greens will gain extra seats in the Parliament and the BNP will gain some of its first seats ever in the European Parliament.

Meanwhile national polls for voting intention if a General Election was called show the Conservatives down but still ahead of Labour in the polls, Labour also down, Liberal Democrats very little change and support for other partys at a all time high (1/3 intend to vote for a party other than the main three)

If these polls play out as YouGov and other pollsters suggest, do you think Gordon Brown can hang on as Prime Minister until the next election?

I like Gordon Brown because I think he is cool. For this reason I hope he does hang in and wait until May for the election because I will be voting him!!

Meh, those are the two main runners anyway. So hopefully UKIP or the Tories will win it. Labour is only getting sympathy votes/long-term Labour voters. I might just go with the family and vote UKIP now anyway :P

As for Mr. Brown, I bet he'll hold on tight, but all of a sudden the pressure will get to him and he'll break. When, I don't know. But maybe between now and September. Though, that is a guess :)

I think there will be a leadership challenge, but I don't think they would win.

On the circumstances of what is occuring tonight and has occured all day, and what I am expecting at the European Elections - I believe at the present time, Gordon Brown will be ousted from office. I really can't see him hanging on until the next General Elections, unless they are early and something drastic happens inbetween now and then.

It depends if everyone goes against Brown or not. Hopefully if he does step down whoever is the next PM is voted in and not swapped like Blair did with Brown (it goes against so many principals considering it's a democracy and voting is usually what we're meant to have fetishes about). It won't cost that much considering how much money is chucked around and it may only be the choice this country has.

I do think if Brown steps down then Labour will stand more of a chance at the next General Election. History shows that when a new leader is brought in that the party often does better in polls. This was shown when both Brown and Major became PM. But as we now know, it don't last long.

There is only one simple reason why Gordon brown will not step down and that is the Lisbon treaty. He wants to push it through before the next general election so the Conservatives will not hold a referendum on the issue.

It's quite pathetic in my opinion....

DO i think he will stay?.. I dont see how he can..... but no doubt he will find some way to push through his stupid little treaty.

To be truthfully honest i cannot see any reason why you want another 4 years of labour at the next general election, weve had them in power since 1997. Surely your fed up of their rule....

Who sold our gold reserves when the price of gold was at an all time low? ...... Gordon Brown
Who raises Taxes year after year in his annual budget?........ Alistair Darling
Who wants to push through the Lisbon treaty after they promised to hold a referendum on the issue? ...... Labour

things sound familiar? Brown and Darling are members of the LABOUR party so why on earth would you want to vote for them and suffer for another 4 years....

it is seriously beyond belief... I myself will be voting Tories.

If there is an early one I can't vote labour :( not 18 til februarrrry!

As long as its not before July I'm all good, get in! I think you'll be set to vote dont worry babe.

My area was a target UKIP area with around 7 billboards with UKIP posters just on my way home from school, my friends nan, grandad and mother have all voted UKIP for the first time, one even being a traditional Labour supporter. My mum and dad have also voted UKIP for the first time.

As a mostly white area, mine has been a target of BNP, and unfortunatly, I think my Dad has voted them. I live under the one of the four last Labour councils (Derbyshire) and their expected to keep it, as a 12point lead is needed to topple Labour here. It could happen, but it looks unlikely. As you would of guessed, I voted Labour.
