Melodic death metal - Arch Enemy, In Flames, Norther, Shadows Fall and Soilwork.
Cancer Bats, Misery Signals, Killswitch are always a safe bet.

As I Lay Dying could come under as melodic death metal and metalcore, I listen to all of these bands, they're all amazing, Atreyus latest album isn't metalcore but the rest are.
