Suggestions.

I have been reading all the threads in this section lately and I think the following 15 points will really help the forum:

1. Merge Forums - http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=618419
2. New, better skins. Please get members opinions before releasing these on the new vBulletin.
3. Admit it when you are wrong - If you ban someone, don't unban them when its not right and then say it was due to a "mistake".
4. Remove Post Approval. These really are unattractive. Moderators are here for a reason, let them do their job. I am sure if a user is a bot and starts spamming and no Super Moderators/Admins are on, I am sure Moderators can issue several infractions and ban them themselves till a Super Moderator comes on to asses the situation. I am not sure if one of the custom questions are used at the moment when registering, but use them. I did on my forum and since then I rarely ever had any bots spamming my forum.
5. More competitions within the forum. There have been many suggestions such as hiding things around the forum, in threads / posts and the members have to find it.
6. If a old member is bullying/arguing etc with a new member (without a valid reason) or something then take quite harsh action against them as they are the reason the forum gets less new members.
7. Have the Super Moderators and Forum Manager create more threads. They also need to reply alot more to threads in "Habbox Feedback". Believe it or not, new members love it when they see Administrators or Super Moderators replying to their threads. I rarely see some Super Moderators and the Forum Manager creating any threads.
8. Promote things such as Debates more through the notices at the top of the forum. These would lead to more active discussions and therefore increased activity.
9. A better permanent GM. A GM who also posts alot around the forums. Has anyone noticed how the forum was very popular when Seacat, JackHB, Anitar and DJ-3000 ran it? It was because they posted regularly in feedback threads and most of them posted alot around the forums. nvrspk4 is beter suited to be AGM, not GM (if he decides to come back).
10. MattGarner (as I said above) needs to post alot more. There is a reason why many members are unhappy with him. This isn't me complaining but me trying to help him. He is following in MAD's footsteps.
11. There used to be referral competitions a few years ago, consider doing them every 4 months or something (or even every month). Yes many members will cheat, but check the IP's of the winner's and see if the member created clones. They can obviously bypass this, but if they do it for habbo furni/VIP, then they are seriously lame. Either way, you will still get some new active members.
12. What this forum needs is more discussions. Maybe give out prizes to members who create GOOD discussion threads through out the forums. What you need to do is promote things more.
13. DO NOT do it so unregistered can only view so many threads. That is the worst idea ever - it will just push guests away regardless of what people say.
14. Cut down on the number of Super Moderators. 2 or maximum 3 is enough. We don't need 4, especially not now when the forum is less active.
15. Things such as Christmas Forum's should have been created. It has been for the past 2 years (or I think) and it has always been very active with pages and pages of threads. You may say they can post it in Discuss Anything but it's not the same.

It would be good to get replies from many Administrators / Super Moderators. These threads are useless if they don't let us know what they think. I realise some of the above points have been raised before but some are new and I have expanded on some old ideas which have been suggested by members in the last few months.

I would rather them post quality posts rather than post an immense quantity.

I think it would be inappropriate of me to suggest anything in regards to how our current GM is cus he acknowledges what he's like at the moment :P But hopefully things on this front will be resolved soon.

I don't think cutting down on moderation would be a good idea, particularly if one wants to remove post approval systems too.

How about asking them to answer a question when they register. I have seen the number of bots reduced alot due to them.

I think the (A)FM can easily do them as they are simple competitions but as long as they are done regularly, it will be great.

Garion always posts and I am not complaining about him. Although I see what you mean that posts arent as important, but at this time, it kind of is.

Yes, but this would only be temporary for about a month once a year ;)

I didn't suggest hiring more, I just said it wouldn't be wise to reduce the numbers. I think moderator levels are just fine as they are.

They aren't saying it was a mistake as in they mistakenly thought the caution should be lifted, they are saying that a mistake was made in the caution BEING lifted and they apologise for that, the caution being lifted was the mistake.

Garion & Matt post plenty, remember they do have to do behind the scenes stuff and deal with real life as well, we can't ask too much.

I believe moderation is easier if moderators post, however it is not necessary and we have fine moderators who moderate without posting.

I think it would be inappropriate of me to suggest anything in regards to how our current GM is cus he acknowledges what he's like at the moment :P But hopefully things on this front will be resolved soon.

I don't see this as an issue, Jin is filling in perfectly fine and Roxy, Matt, Sam, Jake are doing well as the assistant team, although a permanent GM would be nice in future.

Suggesting MG is like ---MAD--- is absurd. I'll refer to the person who said an infraction is like a nuclear attack, and say there is more likeness in this than MG being like ---MAD---

This has been spoken about and will be introduced in the new year, I think.

I don't think cutting down on moderation would be a good idea, particularly if one wants to remove post approval systems too.

There is a need for 3 Super Moderators in my opinion, 4 is a little excessive in current climates. I think we also have a need to hire more specialised mods for certain forums (which is being done).

I agree, these forums would make a lot of threads on top of the ones already posted, I disagree with Sam that they wouldn't be a good thing HOWEVER I completely understand why things such as this weren't considered as we are trying to cut down forums, not add new ones.

Number one is already in talks regarding the merges of the forums. :)

I agree that the new skins for vb4 should get members opinions first but most you can't always please everybody. So it may be mixed results.

In the thread regarding it I said I had no issues of it being removed. But it has got good reasons for why it shouldn't go.

Could be a good idea to see more competitions. I shall see what that department says regarding it. Unless you mean ran by Forum Management etc, if so. Talks are in that but trying to think of the which prizes would be best for this.

I know what you mean regarding older members scaring away new members and it will be tackled by the Moderation Department. How harsh are we talking here?

I will see regarding the threads wise but I don't think I'm lacking in posts. I try and post in most feedback threads and If I don't I always read up the suggestions when they are discussed with other management. But I shall put that into one of the things I should do more. Regarding the Moderation Staff posting around the forum, this one idea that has already been taken into account.

Would be wrong for me to comment on the "better" bit but I have no issues with him anyway. Permanent is the most important bit, I'm sure it will get sorted soon. :)

I don't remember it personally but could be a good idea. There is something in talks regarding such competitions, just trying to see the best way to do this and what prizes could be given out.

No point in cutting the Moderation Team regarding Super Moderators. It helps when people have to take "leave" or go away on holiday.

If you don't ask for members opinions, I can see more complaints from members if they dislike the skins. Its always best to ask opinions on these things and implement the ones which you think are best.

I realise I have been complaining quite a lot about you and 2 super moderators, but at this time, when the forum doesnt get as many active discussions, I think its vital that all forum staff post regularly.

The only reason the debates failed is because Garion posted one about Casual Sex, obviously looking for people to meet on the forum ;lll :lol:

I Suggested a good few things to Competitions like using pictures in competitions and making a thread with T&C's and sticking it so they dont have to post them in every thread which puts of users, the manager said he would do this.. whether or not it happens is another thing.

I agree that the categories need to be merged, they should be done asap instead of waiting around.

AND INTRODUCE THE BADGE AWARD SYSTEM......IT WOULD GET PEOPLE INVOLVED IN THINGS BECAUSE FROM WHAT I HEARD THE 12DAYS OF XMAS WAS ONLY GETTING LIKE 3 PEOPLE A DAY ENTERING LOL

and enable youtube videos, i know this is a feature of vb4 so allowed us to use it.....no one clicks youtube links

Until the last day when someone ignored infrequent saying it should be in a stickied thread and posted a seperate thread too when we got nearly 30 entries (A)

I think that was actually a really good competition, but it should have been promoted more through the Notices at the top of the forum. This is because not everyone checks the Announcement forum.

It was good, I've also discussed with Matt (and garion briefly) ideas of doing short competitions for minor prizes like 10 rep points or whatever. :)

I am not sure if VIP's very own sub-forum exists anymore, but if one was given out as a prize every month (so 12 in a year - each there for 6 months), that would get alot of entries.

Always open for views on other prizes. Not many people are fond of the badge system but I don't have an issue with it being installed.

A lot of very good suggestions there. I know a lot of those things are being worked on, and unfortunately they do take time. Miracles don't happen overnight.

I'm sure we will get a permanent general manager soon, and I'm sure if they are vocal, and active in feedback then things would pick up. The community needs a figure they can associate the forum with, both On Habbo and on the forum. Matt and Garion are brilliant in my opinion, and they both regularly post in this forum.

Regarding Moderators, I think cutting down Supermoderators is a bit of a bad idea to be honest. Their job is so important to the forum, and they can do so much more that moderatots cannot. They are not always online at the same time anyway, The Supermoderators really help us Normal ones out. They are the ones who can see the "Reported posts" and they are the ones that deal with profile/signature violations. They have a large workload, and they cope with it just fine. Four is a stable number, and as Matt said, their ability to moderate almost every forum is great for when Section moderators are Ill/away.

Things will be changing for the better, I'm sure new skins will get made, and the post approval system will get sorted. All these things will hopefully increase the amount of new members. We want those new members to come to a happy place, a community. I don't think you asking Matt to step down is the best outcome at all, especially in the public way which you did. It just causes more friction and things take even longer to sort.


The News department (Yes we are still around somewhere in the distance), will be doing some competitions of it's own soon, and we will be trying to get the community involved more. It's a team effort and I would love all departments to work together to get people involved more. The latest batch of News Applications was huge, and the majority of those that applied signed up to the forum specifically to apply. This shows that people are willing to join if they can be involved, and if there is something for them to achieve. I like the idea of awards/achievements.

It's great that you made this thread, and it's nice to see all the suggestions in one place, where they can be acted upon.

Excellent points Saurav I agree with pretty much all of them.

Why not just cut down on all the bureaucracy? I get the impression every single decision is discussed at length in some sort of admin forum. This is a very slow system and I'm sure this way, things can easily be forgotten about.

IMO Admins should just be able to do what they want when they want, there is advantages to being democratic, but remember this is a forum though not a government.

E.g. if Sammeth wanted to create a referral competition, why can't he just go into forum settings and do it there and then. Instead of waiting around on others and waiting for weekly updates etc.

I doubt this'll happen but I honestly do believe a lot more changes could be implemented a lot better if management and admins could just do what they wanted, when they wanted.

In vB4 this is the default setup for skins :). The only exception is classic which is as near to this as possible - even requiring a re-write of an entire template.

I can see the sub-forums being quite empty, but I also think a lot of people would enter the competitions as they would want a sub-forum.

And I agree Jordy. Garion said the "Merging Forums" idea was being discussed in the Management Forum. I don't understand why that is necessary. Matt and Garion are (A)FM and they should just be allowed to make such things happen. If they don't have the admincp permission, I am sure they can PM someone who has. If all members discuss it in this section, then Admins discuss it again in their section, it will be months before its implemented.

I think it's an excellent idea you got ideas that have been discussed and put them all in one thread an therefore hopefully will be given straight answers. Ensures that threads that were popular aren't forgotten which is often the case in this forum. Somebody should take it upon themselves to do this monthly or so.

Just an idea - took me 5 minutes and I guarantee it'd get quite a few people to participate. Makes them quicker, funnier, smoother, more attractive etc etc.

7. Have the Super Moderators and Forum Manager create more threads. They also need to reply alot more to threads in "Habbox Feedback". Believe it or not, new members love it when they see Administrators or Super Moderators replying to their threads. I rarely see some Super Moderators and the Forum Manager creating any threads.

I don't think they really need to, I don't see how that possibly makes things any better or worse. You say you want them to act before discussing it then say you want them to post it so it can be discussed. If they have an idea, they should implement it. They're intelligent, old and ugly enough to have a bit of freedom imo.

9. A better permanent GM. A GM who also posts alot around the forums. Has anyone noticed how the forum was very popular when Seacat, JackHB, Anitar and DJ-3000 ran it? It was because they posted regularly in feedback threads and most of them posted alot around the forums. nvrspk4 is beter suited to be AGM, not GM (if he decides to come back).

This has to be sorted soon but I think nvr knows that. Personally, I'd rather see someone new and keep Jin as owner and techy and I think I'd make infrequent general manager. Don't talk to him, don't like/dislike him but I think he's the best person for the job thinking about it.

I think management in general need to post more. I think Matt posts more than a hell of a lot of managers. There was a point I'd easily be able to name all the department managers. Now, I wouldn't have a clue yet I still use Habbo(x) daily. I still think there should be a Habbox Q&A session on Habbo every fortnight or so, where random members of management answer habbox related questions. I reckon it would work and would be popular. Just to add, the forum and Habbox improved greatly with ---MAD--- a lot of the active members joined under his 'reign' and he made things get done which is more than can be said for anybody at the mo.

11. There used to be referral competitions a few years ago, consider doing them every 4 months or something (or even every month). Yes many members will cheat, but check the IP's of the winner's and see if the member created clones. They can obviously bypass this, but if they do it for habbo furni/VIP, then they are seriously lame. Either way, you will still get some new active members.

Agree strongly with this. Even if people just do it for VIP/Furni who cares if it brings in some new members. I know the issue is with keeping the members. Just say we keep 10% of members for arguments sake. 10 people sign up in a week we keep 1. 100 sign up in a week due to a referal comp - we keep 10. Not many but a short term solution and gives people a goal and something to do.

14. Cut down on the number of Super Moderators. 2 or maximum 3 is enough. We don't need 4, especially not now when the forum is less active.

I actually think we should have no moderators and all super moderators but I think it was only me and 8freak8 who ever thought that was a good idea. :P

This has to be done!! Department managers have to discuss what they're doing. When I was a department manager me and other managers did what we thought was best for our departments, then explained our actions. Worked better, clearly.

I agree with the point jake said that no managers at all post, most of them come here to get a job and get it with a very low post count, i dont want to single them out but

Jess and 99% of the djs never post, all jess's posts are annoucements. If you look at Clubhabbo all their DJ are deciated and have around 2500+ posts. I can guarntee that nearly all your djs would leave the forum if the radio closed, where as they wouldnt on Clubhabbo.

And the Helpdesk staff, i see dogboy and Hoteluser posts sometimes but thats all? Normal Habbos come into Hxhd and want a job join they forum get reccs of people they have made friends with and get the job with very little posts. Andt hen they only come on to post their reports thats all...

i bet half this forum would be better staff than some of the current hxhd, i think most of them just do it for the rights in the room

I'm saying next month because we've already done the competitions for next month. It will come cos when I say next month, I actually mean next month. We have a thread 'Aims of 2010' in the comps staff forum and your suggestions are on there. I think people should stop expecting instant results.

Surely it's about the quality of the person not the quantity of their post count that's important.

I love the idea of a badge system, it'd be an easy way to get people who use mainly Habbo involved in the forum more too, even if it's just by giving them a badge saying they won an event.

The community departments discuss their ideas with me, nothing too lengthy just a quick pm saying what they want to do. I then give my feedback on their ideas before they go ahead, which IMO works a lot better (not just because it's my job :P) but because it helps the ideas to develop more before they're actually put into place.

I do agree with most of Sauravs points so hopefully quite a few of them will go ahead.

Just to make it clear to people. Myself and Garion do have admincp access and can merge forums and do whatever else we may have to do in admin. Sometimes other things need to be done by higher up but that's nothing related to merging forums. Since the next merge is going to be a big one with many forums changing/merging and so on, once its happened. Things like this are discussed to get the views from other Management and also to get some sort of "Go ahead". Because its not easy putting it all back if someone says we shouldn't of done that. :P

The only thing I disagree with in the OP is cutting down on the number of smods. There is never a reason to reduce the number of moderators, having too many is far better than having few or even a "just right" number. If we only have 3 smods and one is away, the backlog of work builds up massively (there's a lot more effort goes into smodding than people realise) and stuff doesn't get done and people start crying. So yknow, 4 is good.

EWWWW AT HXF/GOVERNMENT COMPARISONS. These make me wanna slit so badly. But yeah the longer these changes take the more the forum will die. There is absolutely no need for any change to take over a month to implement.

Btw managers doing what they want is allowed up to a point atm but if they wanna make what's considered a "big change" it has to be OK'd with general management first. But that only takes 5 minutes so we seem to be about a month over schedule.

Although smodding has changed slightly over the last 2 years, if I was able to handle it all on my own for several months, so I am sure 3 super mods can easily do it. This was during the time Seacat ran the forum etc so its not as if the forum was dead :P
