TV on PC Monitor

Would a VCR (used as the TV tuner) combined with a SCART to VGA (or DVI) cable allow me to view analogue TV on the monitor?

yes as long as you are plugging it into the moniter and not a laptop

Meaning the analouge frequencies will be opened up for use, they were proposing public internet services through it earlier last year I do believe.

That'd be pretty awesome but I don't think it'd happen tbh, browsing porn on taxpayers money doesn't sound like the sort of thing the government would want :P

North East have it til' 2012 (last place to get it turned off), so for a temporary fix to begin with, 2 years should be long enough before getting a TV.

You should be able to do what you intend to.

I wonder, could you plug in ANY HDMI device (Blu-Ray player, for example) to a PC with an HDMI port? Would it work? (I somehow doubt it would, but you never know...)

You can plug any HDMI device into a MONITOR, don't plug it into your computer.

Sometimes you might have problems with the HDCP encryption though as some monitors don't support it.

Didn't think you could. I really ought to get a HDMI monitor. Or wait till I want a new TV and use the old Samsung xD.
