You've already payed about £500 for your driving lessons and theory and you need a car. You've bought your car, thats cost you around £750. So thats £1,250. Not forgetting Car tax and MOT!

You MUST have car insurance to get onto the road, So you want it cheap? Go to comparethemarket and you're looking at about £2,000 a year, probably alot more than that with some cars! Did you know if you drive between 11pm to 5am you are 10times more likely to have an accident ? Well its true! Thats one of the main reasons why you pay thousands for your insurance!
The main ways how to get cheap insurance is to
Get a sex change! - It's a fact, if you are a girl you get cheap car insurance! Apparently they say women are safer drivers! Pfft!
Get theft devices - Most new cars have theft devices. Some are automatic and some have to be started at the touch of a button, but all usually get discounts on car insurance. Also, some states provide extra discounts for such things as window sketching.
Stick with yearly policies - Choosing a yearly policy can extend your savings on your car insurance. Purchasing a yearly policy instead of a six month policy gives you a rate that cannot be changed for one year vs. changing every six months.
Look for a group discount - Many companies offer a discount on car insurance for being affiliated with certain organizations. These can range from credit unions, college sororities, or just having a certain credit card. Call your service center and ask them for a list of organization affiliations.
DO YOUR RESEARCH! - You need to do your research to get cheap insurance, without it, you'll be a monkey paying out loads more than what you actually need to.
Pass plus! - Pass plus will save you around 10% on your car insurance. Approx around £180. Thats good! Think how many Habboxforum donator status you can buy with that!
I've done alot of research and found a great insurance company. I recommend I-kube. Its 40% cheap than most insurance companies. JUST ONE CATCH! You cant drive between 11pm and 5am! and if your like me in thinking they will never catch me i'm just too cool! They stick a tracking device in your car! Muwha! But great stuff because you can see where your car is online! So if it get's nicked, your in! But if you do drive between 11pm and 5am. You get a £45 fine. I dont see that as a big fee when you're saving about a thousand pound!

Some ok advice. Though i wouldn't have a sex change to get cheaper car insurance! It's a shame with the 11pm time with i-kube as when i pass I'll be doing a lot of driving, possibly late at night.

Thats really good however.
Pass+ only saved my mates about 180£ and they paid about 150£ to do it, Imo the 3 hours driving on motorways or whatever it is isnt worth it to save 30£

The pass plus scheme was not originally founded to make your insurance cheaper. It was made to make the roads safer and make you more confident. But insurance companies use the pass+ scheme to give a discount.

And that Quinn direct is ridiculous! They quoted me around £700 a year as a provisional licence holder on my car but it would go up to nearly £3,500 when I passed my test! My car isn't even worth that! :rude:

I'm with Quinn Direct, and I pay about £1300, would be less but I have to pay it monthly. Just done my Pass Plus so hopefully it will go down abit once I get the certificate through.

my mates just got quoted at 636 quid.
Reason? He has a classic mini cooper, 20 years old and got it through a mini cooper group, with a company specialising in classic cars.

Compare sites aren't that great tbh, they miss out Direct Line and Churchill who are some of the biggest players in the insurance game (and probably a fair few more but I don't know for certain). Paid £1400 the first year, around £850 this year I believe both with Churchill.
With this cubey thing whatever it seems a lot of hassle but has anyone had a quote done with them? Would be interesting to see some figures but I'm not personally going to be calling 0845 numbers when I already have a pretty good deal :P

I'm insured with churchill.. It's costing me £1600 on a 1.9TDI PD130 Bora for a year, I get breakdown cover, £1000 audio cover, windscreen cover and they're dead helpful. Driving for 1 3/4 years with 1 years NCB, plus 3 points and a ban. Not bad really.

What?! How old is he? I've just written off an '85 Mini and my quote was 1200 (which I'm still have to pay off until June) and they essentially paid out 50 quid (400 minus my excess of 350) ;l I did a lot of searching around but those classic car specialists won't have you until you're like 25. Bloody thing cos me near enough 2 grand as well

When I passed my insurance was £1,400 by Tesco. I'd rather be able to drive at night and not be pushed into the belief that all drivers can't drive at night :/ The savings are good, but I'd rather have all the trimmings and the ability to be able to drive at night, and not have some sort of tracker fitted to my car :/

He's 17.
He spent about 300-400 on the car when buying it. And has been doing it up for a while, total costs are probably over £1000 now and its not finished.
He joined a mini cooper club with his dad, then they both got insurance through that.

Well im not sure if its the same with cars but it defently is with mopeds get your mom to insure it and but her name as the first driver and yours as the second because im presuming your youngish late teens early twentys, and insurance is more for teens because there more likley to crash ( have an accident ) so say anything did happen you would get charged less hoped ive helped even a little ;S

Jack, cheapest company I found (on an original Mini) was Sabre which is through a broker called Swinton. Might not turn out to be cheapest for you with a modern car but I'd give it a look at least.

My mate did that with his car. Not sure if it would work with a moped though because I'm guessing mums wouldn't actually be using them, where as my mate's mum did use his car quite a bit.
