There needs to be a cap on how much teams can spend in Transfers..

It's just ridiculous, you get the teams like Chelsea, City, Real Madrid, Barcelona, that just inflate the market with the the ridiculous bids they make.

It's unfair that (mostly city) try and buy players for like 50+ million when they are not even worth it, other top teams should get the chance as well.

The market is inflated.. Augero 40 - 50 Mill. Ribbery 50 mill, Torres 60 - 80 mill.... ridiculous.

They moan that Clubs are in so much debt and not doing much to clear it off w/e but they need to do their bit as well, by putting in caps and making teams spend on the basis of what they can afford/earn.

The premier league/FA w/e make it so easy for ANYONE, to buy a football Club. Which shouldn't be allowed, people shouldn't be able to buy A Club if they are soley are going to gather the funds by borrowing money to pay for the bid and then putting it on the Club - Maybe if this were the case over 5 and half years ago, the Biggest Club in wouldn't be in so much debt.

Isn't that how the world works though? It works for everything, buying companies, getting a job, etc. You go for the best price you can get.
It's fair IMO, if clubs want to spend that much then let them. The poorer clubs need richer owners, better sponsers yo raise enough for more decent players

Real Madrid can afford and earn the money that they spend, they're backed by the National Bank or something. You think limiting clubs to what they earn will do good for other clubs, leagues or football in general? That's silly.

To be fair if you had billions like Man City you wouldn't be saying this.

If there's going to be a salary cap then it needs to be in all the best leagues otherwise all the great players will just go to La Liga and the Premier League will weaken.

I dont think theres any need for a cap on anything.

The money is there, spend it. The money comes ultimately from the fans through tickets & merchandising, and then because of all the fans advertisers and other people invest. The fans want to see the players so why shouldnt they get a lot of the money.

I don't mind teams spending big as long as it is sustainable and money made from within the club.

Footballers get payed on average say... £70,000 a week? I'm talking about ones that play for top clubs that are good players, but not the biggest players, such as say Nasri for us.

70 x 52 = £3.64 Mill a year.

According to google, Rob Pattinson got payed £8 Mill for the New Moon film, which probably took around 8 months, so basically was on £12 Mill a year.

Read somewhere the other day that UEFA are planning to impose a rule which means that teams can only spend £10m over what they can afford for themselves or something.

It's hard to put a Transfer cap on. Look at Ronaldo, Madrid have almost made up the £80 Mill through shirt sales. By the end of next season, they probably will have made it up. It all relates to how much a player is worth to the club. Saying that, maybe they can put a cap on the total cost of transfers to a club, say about £60 Mill, but that is net spendage. (No idea if net is the right term but sounds good), so basically if say we had this £60 Mill, sold Fabregas for £45 Mill, then we could make a £105 Mill bid for Messi if we wanted too as the sale of Fabregas will to the budget. Yes I know none of what I said will happen anytime soon but meh.

It makes no sense to have a transfer cap. You're not gonna see great players move until they decide not to renew their contracts (which they probably won't do) since their club won't release them for the price being offered. And since they are so great, they'll already be in the top clubs (e.g. Messi in Barcelona) winning competitions, satisfied with where they are, unwilling to move to another club. Attempting to cap finances on private companies is ridiculous. If they were all government funded then sure it would need looking into, but if someone is rich and owns the club then he should be free to spend whatever he likes on it. It's big business, and frankly if Athletico could only get £5m instead of 50 for Aguero there'd be no reason for them to sell - capping transfer funds would mean teams remained fairly static because no-one would want to sell their superstars or up-and-coming players.

It would work if clubs were restricted to spending a certain % on club revenue on wages. Clubs should be alot more financially stable that way as they'll be living within their means.

Then there's another problem. The revenue each year is different. If a team's revenue drops, they can't just lower their players' wages in order to get within the cap. Makes no sense.

Then they'd have to sell players they can't aford to keep. Relegated clubs do it.

Well then players will have to be sold over and over again and it will just make the transfer market more populated and more like a loan/trade market and if you have to sell a player due to not being in the cap then you will have to sell the player for a smaller price and take a loss. Makes no business sense.

Moaning because City can outbid United these days me thinks.

I do think there should be a cap on salaries and maybe transfers, although you oly complain because Man United are like the only team that (that are world famous) hat can't do it.

I guess your right, it wouldn't work out, but i think there should be a rule change, if you cant afford to buy some or w/e don't buy them. Portsmouth for example..

Makes no sense whatsoever. Clubs will be selling players for far less than their worth to other clubs just to be below the salary cap. And after losing those players, their revenue will fall again due to fewer jersey sales and they'll sell more players the next season. Not going to work.

And what if a team only uses 60% of their cap one season? Does the extra 40% carry onto the next? I don't think UEFA/FIFA wants to keep all those numbers around for every club there is.
