2800 is ridiculous for a 1 liter car.
Is this you just enquiring about why its this price? Or has this actually happened to you?
That can't be right, unless you happen to be in an area where 1.0 Corsas get trashed daily. My 1.4 Clio was £1400 the first year fully comp on my own name, so even £2800 sounds a bit dubious. Prices have gone up I think (just renewing mine now and it's only gone down £5 a month with an extra year's no claims...) but not by that much I'm sure
Noticed that too lol. My dad had a pug & when he bought insurance it as well cheap.. now if you look its in the £1500+ region so he sold his car rapid lol
I pay £1600 on my 1.9 bora, been driving for 2 years with 3 points and a ban.
That's mental. If it's a renewal then go for another company. Guarantee you can find it cheaper.
Not to mention my 1.4 Corsa which was a little older only cost me £1400 on insurance, similar to Tom.

With Quinn Direct going into administration a lot of insurers were able to put their insurance premiums up, especially young drivers. The area I live in is crap for insurance and the cheapest I've been quoted on my 1.2 Mk2 Punto is £3700. I'd advise you to ring each company direct as comparison sites are often more expensive - and if you ring each company you can try and get them to match eachother which is handy.
Many insurances get more expensive depending on your history of driving, the area you live in, the desirability of your car, whether you park it on the road, in your drive or in a garage overnight, anything these days.
As a prov. licence holder I pay £1010 a year on my 1.2 Clio, added to my mum and dad's Admiral Multicar policy with my dad as the registered owner and me as the registered keeper.
My insurance was only £1500 on a Saxo.... a renowned chav car.
I heard something about it going to go up even more in the next couple of months, not entirely sure how true it was though.
I really hope it doesn't, i think mine is already too much, £3000 for an S-Reg 1.4 Fiat Brava :l
That's shocking lol .... It would cost me that to insure a 1.6 XSI Peugeot 206... Quinn Direct still give some quite cheap quotes - even though they are in administration, people are buying them out apparently, and they must be doing better because just last week they renewed their quote form...
A lot is down to where you live. Every postcode in my area is high risk :(
Are we talking about insurance in general going up or just yourself? I was paying just over £1,000 for the old Mini but now any time I look for a quote on anything like a Corsa or Fiesta the lowest I can find is about £4,000! I had put that down to the fact I have an accident on my record though. Just hoping that in a year's time once I hit 21 it should come down a fair bit.

This times a million. A lot of the better insurers don't feature on comparison sites at all (because then they'd have to pay them a premium) so it's really best to do your own research. Last year we did one such site, can't remember which, and the best offer they could give me was £1450. Considering I had a year's no claims, had been paying £1400 for my first year and Churchill who I was with had quoted a renewal at £850, I decided not to bother with the likes of comparethemarket and moneysupermarket in the future :PQuote:

That'll go up once you pass (ridiculous I know, apparently you're more of a danger once you can drive legally :S) especially if you come off your parent's insurance. Not sure if Admiral do it or not but if you want to stay on your parent's policies it's worth looking for a company that'll let you still build up a no claims bonus, as a lot don't if it's not in your sole name.Quote:

My insurance is coming up and atm I'm on around £770 for fully comp and a 1.0 litre Corsa
I had a letter sent through by admiral quoting me around £650 which is good but not what I was expecting. I was hoping for lower if I'm truly honest but they've quoted me best so far.
