Anyone got one?
I got one as soon as they came out. Brilliant phones, very similar to the Desire :)
Differences between desire and nexus one?
Hmmm but Nexus one has 2.2 where as Desire is stuck on 1.5?
nvm its on 2.1
argh im confused, why is the nexus one £5 more than desire? xD
I'm not sure. Maybe because the Nexus is Google branded and has Froyo. To be honest I'd just buy the cheapest one as other than 60mb of ram on the Desire, and the newer Android on the Nexus, they're basically identical.
They have the same battery, and Nexus has Froyo, so the Desire doesn't have better battery life :S
HTC did announce that the Desire (as well as Legend) would be getting upgraded to 2.2 in Q3. ^^
Out of those two I'd go with the Desire simply for Sense UI, it's amazing in my opinion.
You can install Sense on either phone, you don't even have to unlock the Nexus to get Sense anymore :)
I keep switching back and forth between the two. I like the photo gallery on stock, but the widgets on Sense are nice, but Sense kills the battery, but it also has a nicer live wallpaper in my opinion, but you can hack it onto stock, but Sense has a nicer launcher, and the loop goes on :P
Ah screw it I'm just going to get the Desire cause it saves me £5per month
I didn't need to get a twitter app either, because there's an official one that came with my phone too Tom :P
Although for the life of me I can't see a civil point to Twitter (no push tweets yet), so I use it as a text messaging proxy across the pond to text Shar :love3:
Haha yeah. Tbh I would like to try out an Android phone to see what all the fuss is about :) if only I had my old iPhone 3G, could have put Froyo 2.2 (???) on it.
I think Cyan 6.0 is being ported to the Desire soon, but CM seemed to get slower and slower with every release on my G1.
And yes, FroYo is 2.2 ;) Gingerbread is 3.0, which will have specific hardware requirements to try and break the fragmentation of Android handsets.
It's meant to be usable but there are bugs (as expected), wish I'd have tried it before I sold my 3G :(
Wonder if it will ever be ported to i4... that would be cool. iPhone 4 iOS 4 dual booted with Android, haha.
Port iOS > N1/Desire :)
Not sure how true these are but I read them over at Neowin.
- It will be released mid-October 2010. Just in time Black Friday and the holiday season rush.
- Minimum Hardware requirements: 1Ghz CPU, 512MB RAM, 3.5" displays and higher. As of now, the majority of handsets do not fall whithin the minimum, allowing the new OS to focus on bigger systems, namely tablets.
- 1280x760 resolution available on screens 4" or bigger.
- Overhauled user interface. UnwiredView.com compares it to the Gallery App on Android 2.2, just throughout the whole UI.
- Less reliance on third-party UI shells like HTC's Sense or Motorola's MotoBlur.
