Not sure if anyone on here is into overclocking their Androids, but just wondering if anyone has used Quadrant, and if so what's your score?
Got mine overclocked right now to 1.1ghz (comes stock underclocked to 550mhz) and seems to hold up pretty good against the rest..

What does overclocking actually do?
That must make it hot and waste the battery too?
Overclocking makes the cpu faster...

Overclocking increases the processor speed of the phone, making things faster etc, yes it does decrease battery life and get slightly hotter, that's why you use profiles in SetCPU to throttle the CPU down when not in use. Just gotta be really careful on a phone.
I've not noticed any "major" temperature increase... when I was using it heavily last night for music, sms, and Facebook my temperature at max was right at 100 degrees Fahrenheit. That's also with the keyboard lights on constantly and backlight on as bright as it could get.
Right now just chillin' it's at 93.2.
Here's my profiles:
Main: 1100 max, 550 min (scaling ondemand)
CPU Temp > 49.0 celcius - 550/400 (on demand)
Screen Off - 550/400
Battery < 37 550/400
Charging AC/Full - 1100/550
Can't overclock on this kernel >.<

What theme is that?
Bog standard HTC Sense with a transparent notification tray, I believe Lee (ROM Creator) modified the standard notification icons himself, could be wrong though.
The battery indicator mod can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=724778 not sure if it's compatible with other phones, probably very easy to convert though.

I stuck with the default Sense one, people keep telling me to use Handcent though and will probs try it out, I know ChompSMS was very good back in the days of my old G1 though.
I looked around at Chomp, but just didn't seem too great... I love Handcent though.. the popup is great for quick replying.

What are you overclocked to / ROM and kernel?
I'm a Nexus One sporting the snapdragon. I have absolutely no need to OC and don't see the point in wasting away my battery life.
Why are the bars for Nexus One and Desire so low yet Tom has a Desire and his is so high?
Because he has overclocked, which gives his a better score then the Nexus One, even with the desire.
It doesn't waste away your battery life, with SetCPU's profiles... you can even gain battery life... (like when your screen is off.. actually underclock the processor to say... 450/250 [for a DROID] not sure about what you have)... and gain battery life, underclock while charging, overclock only when the screen is on and battery is above a certain %, etc.
It's not all about losing battery.. and even so.. running a custom ROM and Kernel that has been deodexed and have many battery saving features and graphics.... you gain quite a bit.
Because 2.2 FroYo gave something like a 75% speed increase over other Android releases, hence there are two Nexus One bars on the chart, at stock 2.2 FroYo my Desire is about the same as the 2.2 Nexus bar seeing as the 25mb more RAM my Desire has doesn't have any effect in the benchmark :@

I have a rooted N1 but I'm sporting a stock 2.2 rom right now - CM6 is supposed to have a horrible battery life. I thought the N1 already UC'd when you're not using it!Quote:

The ROM I'm using now is overclocked to 800mhz, but the kernel I've got is 1.2ghz. Not noticed any temp spikes or battery issues, it's worth it man!
The speed you get when using the phone, is amazing.
Even if you don't want an overclocked kernel/rom... a deodexed rom with battery fixes like image optimization.. really, really improves speed.. without overclocking. Might be something you want to check out.

In short terms it gives you access to the phone, superuser permissions. Can install custom ROMs, Kernels, Themes, Overclock it, etc.
To elaborate it basically gives us the freedom to control the hardware we paid for, a freedom we should be entitled to anyway.Quote:

Just imagine the minimal customization you could perform on the iPhone/iPod Touch... take that to the next level to complete and total customization in levels you could not imagine.
Android just has it so much better I believe when it comes to customization, not only can you do full and complete themes (different then iPhone themes)... but just the widgets are amazingly useful when designing your desktop.
Finally mad the switch to a stock Android ROM, forget Sense UI, this thing is awesome with LauncherPro.
Can't get it any higher with a simple 1.3GHz overclock, anyone else got any tips?
