Rewards

Hey,
Before people start flaming this thread lol its just a suggestion so hush. Well everyone enjoyed the summer spectacular. What sucks now is habbos boring, no events etc. Maybe in the future something like a rewards system could be introduced?


Basically how it would work is, events all year but instead of getting a prize the and there you would get points, then you could redeem your points for prizes such as..


500points = vip
5 points = 1 rep point
10 points = hc

etcetc

then maybe have a list of habbo furni they could use their points with to redeem. Then again its just a suggestion, something new that might spice up habbox again.

They weren't too keen on my idea specifically because it involved a specific theme each month, but perhaps the prospect of gaining individual points separate to any overall theme remains a possibility I guess, it would perhaps encourage more entries which is something we are always striving toward.

With points, you could give a small prize like a HC sofa, as they sell for 1 cred nowadays, but I like this idea.

However, you could save everyones points at the end of the month, and by PM you could tell them how many points they have accumilated over the month. And the points could start again.
On the other hand, you could still do points, but you could also give the person who won the most points throughout the month a prize for their dedication.

I think there should be a few good prizes, make something actually worth winning :). And you could as Richie said win VIP and REP for the points you win.

I think this would be a good way to actually use the VIP the Events Department have (seeing as that Saturday event doesn't seem to have occured and I don't think it's worth doing) but it would have to be a first come first serve process. I think a prize should be given (a small rare) as well as points, though. This is far more practical for the Events Dept than the Comps Dept because of the above reasons Garion has mentioned, in both his quote and the message.

I've never been a fan of a points system tbh. Throughout HxSS, there were 'err what's points?' and 'team? im not in any team!' and I think it'd just confuse newbies. Also, a points system would be erratic. 500 points for VIP but as there's a quota, what if too many people get over that which doesn't fit in the quota that management are given. It'd mess up future months and create too much hassle. I just think it'd be so much work with little benefit imo.

Not a bad idea but there are events - you have just been to one!! :P xx

@ Samanthaa - if you sell an Hc for 1c that's a bit silly as they still sell well for 4 on MP making the average 3c.

Oh I noticed that :) but at then end of the day I sell mine for 2c or give them away :D.


Also, what about creating differen't categories, like teams like the HxSS.
Saying you need so many posts on the forum for a different range of prizes. The downside to this is some people may spam the forum like the posting competition.

Also, some people may not want points, so a small rare for newbies and others would be ok?

Don't do categories, don't do teams. Please, it makes the system have more cons than pros. And everyone should receive the small rare otherwise it's just giving a message to EOs that they don't have to give prizes.

I think a better system would be this. You know the Awards system? That will come into play. Everytime you ask for a award you have to request it on the forum, and forum management approve it. Straight away, you can get points for hitting each milestone (like Habbo Pixels actually). That would mean that the Awards system would be better used, and also you could add more milestones to gain more points. Every milestone gives you a certain amount of points, or if you want, it gives you the same amount of points. For Arcade games, you should be given points too, this could work under the supervision of nvrspk4, he makes certain points-approved tourneys & you can join them, & if you win you get a small amount of points. It depends what sort of value we're looking at for each reward.

Now for posting obviously the awards system could cover that, the arcade system could be covered by nvrspk4 quite easily, and well the comps department, they can include in their prize bundle when it usually says 75rep + VIP, they can put an extra prize, which is another small amount of points! Obviously you cant be too generous on the rewards, otherwise everyone will get them pretty fast. For Reputation, I think the best way to do that is to do it through the awards system too, because Admins can see you have a certain amount of rep power on the system anyway, and hey getting an award for it would be pretty cool too.

Yeah, I really like this idea and it should definitely be integrated with the awards system. They could go up in levels, like if you win one event you get the level one award. Then for level two you need to win 3 events. 7 for level 3 etc. Once you have won like 50 you could have a really cute award/badge and maybe get 50 reputation points. I think it would mean more people went to events. Everyone wants something to achieve and aim for and giving people material goods once they accomplish something is always going to work with a teen audience.

It's taking Habbo's way of rewarding people with Pixels, but making those Pixels that Habbo give out, a bit more worth something isn't it. Could teach the Habbo world a thing or two in rewarding user loyalty haha.

Quite a good idea actually Ryan and I ***THINK*** there's a points system integrated in the awards system which we don't use.

I will take a look at it a bit later on and try and get in touch with Roxy (who is jointly responsible for the Awards with me as obv I'm not clued up on the habbo stuff) and see what we can come up with.

I just did some snooping around on the YAAS site (the awards addon basically), the version HxF has does feature a points system, however the forum must run MySQL 5.0+ if it's to work. I don't know whether you run that or not... but yeah.

Plus if you were to do this, would there be an option to see how many points people have earned in either their userbit or on their profile?

I've thought about that too ;) No we wouldn't be able to reset them but we can keep a record of when people exchange points for prizes :)

Mainly prizes will be Rep, Donator & VIP although all prizes have a habbo equivalent :)

And would people be saving up their points from awards for certain prizes yeah? Or would they get different awards everytime they go up in points scale, so they get a taste of different things? Like so people aren't constantly getting 15+rep from 10 points everytime they get 10 points? (using 10 as an example btw).

Also you could do it so when they get to a certain amount of points, like when they get the top amount, it goes back onto the first round... Alot like Habbo Club does, goes from HC, then after that it just rotates... Well, it used to.

Yeah the rotating thing sounds good, although it'll be quite hard to reach the top prize :)

The prizes will be staggered and then you can exchange your points for a prize however once you exchange you start again, so the longer you wait & build up more points the better prize you get, it depends what you want really, we haven't fully drawn it up yet but say 500 points is 50 rep points, 1000 points is VIP, if you wanted VIP you would have to wait until you had 1000 points, exchange them and then your total will still be 1000 but your exchange total will be recorded as 0, so if you then decide you want 50 rep, you then get 1500 points (500 points on exchange total) you can exchange it for that.

I'm saying, once you hit 500 points you get a prize, then hit 1000 you get a prize, then hit 1500 you hit a prize, then on 2000 youd get a prize again (which would be the first prize you got at 500)! Like the Habbo Club rotation basically! I mean could do it the way you're describing, give the users more choice over what they can redeem, I like that and everything. I was just trying to make it simpler for you guys haha, but if youre not bothered then yeah sure! :)

I think exchanging would be better because then it somewhat limits the amount of prizes given out, rather than every user getting a prize at X points if you get me.

How would you implement that though? Would you put something in the user it like:

Points: 1500 (1000)

Where the one in brackets is what they've redeemed or something. I dunno if you can add a field onto the user bit that just admin can edit, and then put it there? Not sure what's possible on vB

Beth, it's simply the planning stages here :P It's gonna be confusing at the moment, however as Oli gets more understanding of it, I think he'll be able to phrase it better and make it look simpler for forum users :)

Sounds like a shop system designed to work with a reward system. They're quite good ideas but it depends what's on offer, as a limited selection of "VIP", name changes, title changes and so forth are small and not that useful. The usual rewards tend to suffice, and maybe give a months VIP as a gift to go alongside such a reward? Tell me if that's not what you're on about :P

I think the option of a name change would be pretty awesome actually! But yeah, stuff like that plus Habbo variations of each offer as well. VIP is sought after though, so they cant give it away willy nilly. I mean maybe if you hit a certain point you could get 3 months VIP instead of 1 month, buttt I get it's at the discretion of Forum & General Management innit. But yeah I said to Garner about a shop system, but he said that wouldnt be available on the forum at this time. It can easily be worked with what HabboxForum has now anyway, just it's a bit more manual thats all.

But yeah I think you got the general jist of it.

Shop systems are fun, I had one on a forum I worked on ages ago, but this forum isn't the sort to off an evil shop, where you can edit a user's name, title and avatar to anything temporarily :P Credit cards are fun to work too, but that's pretty advanced stuff. You could do name colours too, but that depends if it encroaches VIP :/

Just an addition, to what yknow things members could get:

Name changes
Rep
VIP
Donator(?)
Larger avatar (idk if you can do that)
Larger sig (same as above)
Bigger PM inbox
Ability to see people who've repped you (thatd be a big costly one)
Ability to collect different colour names and let ya interchange (I think that was available on VIP+, but itd again be a costly one)
Be able to make a group (even if you ent got the right privs for it idk if ya can do that though)

uhm yeah i know alot of them are just features from VIP but im thinking if you chunk it up a lil, meaning you can get individual features of VIP it might be pretty rad. and yeah you'd have the habbo variants of them as well!

This would be lovely actually, just like the Honour system that Habbo has modified a little. I'm all for it!

I have put forward an idea but I need to discuss the point exchange system in detail with Roxy, Garion & Matt as we don't wanna get too complex with what we give away, I think mainly it'll be VIP, Donator & Reputation but we'll always also offer a Habbo equivalent, I'd like to think anyway :)

In terms of technical stuff, to keep a tally of the points we can do that quite simply but for the exchange system it'll have to be tallied manually as the points total of someone will just keep increasing but I don't think it'd be a major problem to keep a tally manually.

The main thing now is to sort out the prizes :)
