I think something like the summer spectular should happen in the future e.g in the next few months. It wouldn't be as big as the spectular but it could involve points with normal Habbox events organised by event organisers and the people with the most points at the end (1st, 2nd, 3rd place) win a big prize, e.g forum vip or a trophy?
The HxSS is so good they should have like a winter games which follows the same sorta idea. Out of interest, was forum posting / activity stats enhanced through the HxSS period? Obviously the risk with doing this is that the special feel of HxSS wears off and then HxSS won't be as good as it has been over the last few years.
This. A Habbox Event Championship-stylesque feature is not needed, it's just more hassle in my opinion & it devalues the fun of Habbox Summer Spectacular, since alot more effort goes into that in 2 weeks than anything else. I can see straight away that EO's yeah, they'll put on the events but it wouldn't hold the same sort of audience that the bigger Habbox events do.Quote:

Agreed with this. Gotta spread em out really. Something every month (this is the same sort of thing I said to Garion when he wanted a "big event" every month) just makes the bigger thing look smaller and instead of something "more exciting" to look forward to, it's just the same old, same old. I do believe B@S is still occuring this year but I think that's just going to be events, and it just depends how they will be doing Christmas me thinks.Quote:

I do think though there could be more bigger events. Not on the same scale as HxSS but maybe like a Habbo quest that is done over a few days rather than one hour. HxSS takes a hell of a lot out of people (ask Garion...) and I don't think it would be practical to run them monthly. Twice a year maximum I'd say. However, bigger events, yeah.
Doing more than one HxSS (in a way) a year is going to be too much in my opinion. I think HxSS being once a year is ideal and always gets people want to take part and have some fun for the two weeks in the summer holidays. Normally after summer everyone get back to reality with school/college/uni and then they have to balance that and Habbox out. It would be a big risk if we did try it.
But bigger and better events is possible and any suggestions for them is welcome at any time.
This has been done in the past and it's something I put forward to the powers that be when I was an Events Organiser. Who knows if anything will come of it..
A few years ago, we had these very often; for example the Valentines, Easter, Christmas, B@S, etc. but they seem to have faded off and been forgotten about. I think the short, week-long, themed events were brilliant.
With school starting again, why not hold a week of school themed events. Each day, have one event relating to each subject. "Addition" for Maths, "Falling Furni" for PE, "Shout it Out" for English. Use the points system which was used oh-so-long-ago and then have an overall winner :)

I can't help but agree. Advertising has always been a problem for every department in my opinion, and it probably always me. As a whole forum, though, we can only take more measures and hope that it is advertised more. In the Habbox World Cup, there were only about 5-8 people who hadn't signed up before so and there was around 27 teams (along with around 6 or so people who didn't join a team). Sure, you're obviously going to get most from the forum (if it's advertised well enough), but I think if we try hard enough we can get new users to sign up and enter these events or at least notify them that they are occuring.Quote:

Because General Management have outlined it as a problem before... and I view more or less every thread and in comparison to this forum and others there are much less newer members.
They're trying to combat that with the Welcome Commitee, which hasn't been operational that long. You have to consider though, Habbox has been around for a LONG TIME, as to other fansites which havent' stuck around that long. Keeping that in mind, users must be coming and sticking around else there wouldn't be many people posting. HabboxForum has its lulls in activity which is fair for every forum imo, but the userbase at Habbox is alot more friendlier than most Habbo fansites, because alot of the management don't go on Habbo much anymore, and they don't have that immature attitude that new fansites normally have.Quote:

You do not have the stats and in fact when many of the new members have bought Donator and are posting. What you are talking about has been addressed so in fact is no longer as issue. I did a bit of searching into your Tryhabbo point recruiting members fast, seems they just have a lot more presence on Habbo with giveaways and stuff like that. If HabboxForum did this, they could use the New Members Only forum to hide the password in, meaning that only new users could get furniture. Makes sense, I guess... And hey they may come back on if we make the right impression.
Oh and the fact they opened up in March 2010 as to Habbox's uh... 2004 was it? Yeah I think so, yeah we have about 6 years on them in terms of knowing how to do it properly. I know I'm picking on that one point, but I think it's a valid one that General Management could sort.

If you have events staff ABLE to do events during the schooling/college/university times, you should probably try and take the opportunity. You are accomodating for the current users of Habbox but not thinking of bringing new users in. I am pretty sure, that most of the events I tried to get into for this year's Summer Spectacular were already full by established members of the Habbox Community. Then, the room will be filled by some already-at-habbox people and then some newer people that we can force (A) into registering on the forum.

But comparing any of them to HabboxForum, I know which one is for the more mature & older user. It's just a matter of when they grow up, theyll come to us. I mean HxSS is awesome and events like that, but the userbase is more sensible here. Call it a bad thing, but meh... Seems to have worked well the past 6 years.

Hmm that doesn't tell me that they keep their members longer. You are just supposing they do. Habbox is a pretty active forum and it is not all about posting. Take MissAlice for example she posts when she feels there is something to say - doesn't mean she is less a valuable member. That's what I like about Habbox. People can browse, post when they want to and generally enjoy without the forum being spammed up ( well most of the time, anyway:P). The numbers on the forum every day is pretty respectable. Why try to fix something that isn't broken? Yes occasionally it might need a bit of maintenance and a few tweaks here and there but it doesn't deserve the constant negativity some members try to portray it is.Quote:

HxSS is something on a different level, nearly 200 events, two weeks and a lot of time, effort and dedication from virtually every member of Habbox Staff in one form or the other. I for one know that toward the last few days of HxSS, it became a lot more trouble to ensure things were running to the schedule and on time. If we were to do things such as HxSS all too often, staff enthusiasm in helping out would wane and the events themselves would flop. Secondly, as has already been said, you'd be devaluing not only HxSS but each successive event over and over.
However, we do recognise the need for bigger events, and this will be happening.
What I should say, before I get onto forum member sign ups and retention, is that the focus for us is not only HxF. It is Habbox.com and HabboxLive, too. I think when this topic comes up, which it does regularly, the other sites are far too neglected. No single site should take precedent. What we need to be doing is looking at methods to improve traffic to all three sites, and if someone is attracted to Habbox.com it is likely they will at some point be attracted to the radio, the forum or both.
With this in mind, we have Habbox V6 up and coming and the behind the scenes work on this is gradually increasing in momentum. Furthermore, the recent week of giveaways and so forth saw a large increase in HabboxLive listeners that they have very easily retained. To continue this improved Habbo presence, we are, as I said above, planning future endeavours on the client.
I do feel it's also necessary to point out that in recent weeks / months, the Habbox presence on Habbo has improved significantly as reflected in the fact that we have seen an increase in posting and I am spotting a considerable amount of newer members popping up. As part of our plans to increase the retention of these members, the Welcome Committee has been brought into place and this is beginning to work extremely effectively. On the whole I don't think we are posed with the same problems we were having just a few months ago, things are improving significantly from my perspective. Nevertheless, we are not about to get complacent and we will continue in our efforts to attract and retain new members to all three Habbox sites.
Sorry I haven't read the full thread but isn't there a lot of events and stuff for the Christmas Bonanza or is that not done anymore?
It was said that big events were good but keep the originality, obviously you can't do anything on the scope of the SS but if I remember the larger scale events happen almost every two months.
August - Summer Spectacular
October - Halloween Stuff
December - Christmas Bonanza
February - Usually something is organized for half terms
April - Easter Eggstravaganza
June - Often something is done surrounding the Habbox Anniversary, but not always
That works out to exactly every two months (I promise, that's how it was planned :P) We're spoiled with events and don't even know it!
Of course Halloween and half terms (and anniversary when it happens) are typically smaller scale but they're in between bigger events.
PS: As far as HxSS nearly every senior staff member involved has some sort of stress breakdown and takes time off to cope, it literally is an all out dash where they just try to make it to the end of the spectacular without falling over :P I hear only one heart attack a year is healthy.
