Hey all,
After a big fan revolt Warner Brothers announced to cinemas last night that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 will be a 2D film and not a 3D one!
Well i'm glad, I don't fancy wearing big glasses to watch a movie - whats wrong with 2D anyway? :P
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...leased-3D.html
i was in my managers office when it came through - were like WTF(riday)?
i hate 3d so much, i have to keep adjusting those ******* glasses
i really hope it's 2d
Why would there be a fan revolt? it would be in 2d anyway. and everybody would want to watch it in 3D for the experience. Jeeeeeeesusss christ.
How can people not like 3D, it's amazing!! I think that Harry Potter is too old for this part now, I lost interest after the Order of the Phoenix.
3d is pretty amazing, and i imagine Harry potter would be fantastic in 3d, but that said, theres nothing wrong with 2d ;D its worked for however many years, it still works, why not use it
They're re release them all from the beginning in 3D, after Deathly Hallows PII. Profiteering!!! Wait and see.
I was over the moon when I read their statement last night. I am so glad they won't be ruining the film by putting it into '3D'
I was so looking forward to watching this in 3d :(
3D is a shoddy gimmick and it lowers picture quality. 2D forever.
I'm quite happy with this.
I would rather have a normal 2D version rather than seeing the release date pushed back to January or whatever just to accommodate 3D.
Never seen the obsession in 3D. It was around like 50 years ago lol It is a gimmick
Would rather watch a film without getting a migraine, and not have to wear glasses.
The truth of the matter is, Warner saw a post-converted reel, realisd how awful it is, and the ditched it.
Gotta start somewhere, its not like we instantly got blu-ray hd. Youre basically saying video tapes and records should not have existed because its bad quality.
Tbh I dont see why they dont (unless they do re-release them all as someone suggested), always best to give both options to get more £$£$£$.
There's a stark difference between picture quality and an entire visual dimension.
I'm glad they changed it. If all 7(8) eventually do come out in 3D then I will probably see them anyway ;p
Did that really happen??
EDIT: Actually I read that Harry Potter was fast approaching the title of highest grossing... film series or whatever. Star Wars is currently at number one which is supposedly why they're planning on rereleasing their films in 3D. WB probably just did this so they can try out gross them after haha.
Highest if you don't adjust for inflation.
Well I read they decided to not release it in 3D because they felt they were unable to complete the transition to the standard they would have liked. Personally I'm glad they've decided to release it in 2D for the following reasons.
1. They could have decided to delay the film for 6 months whilst the finished the transition into 3D
2. They could have released it in 3D as it is now meaning a lot of people would have paid to see it in 3D and would have come out dispointed.
3. I've been to see films there were intended to be 3D (such as Christmas Carol, Avatar etc) and they were fantastic because they were created with 3D in mind.
4. I then go and see films like Toy Story 3 which I wish I just saw in 2D because the actual film was great but I couldn't help but feel dispointed as it was barely 3D and I felt it had 'ZOMGZ 3D' slapped on the front of it just because 3D is the 'in' thing at the moment.
No, you're saying because it lowers picture quality there is no point in it. You do realise they have to start from somewhere and in 10 years or so it'll be of equal quality to the HDTVs they have then (quadhd might go mainstream for all that is known) so yeah. Nothing starts great and you shouldnt bash it because it's not amazing, yet.
I read about this last night on muggle.com:eusa_danc
I don't really mind because I was planning to watch it in 2D anyways, when I'm watching something in 3D i can't help but mess with the glasses.
...and the world rejoiced.
I hate 3d movies, those glasses are awful!
and you pay more, so 2ds just better.
