The Runescape Section

If anyone has been active in the Runescape sub-forum lately they can tell you that activity is picking up in there. Especially with Runescape reverting back to how it used to be a few years ago when there was many more users both on Runescape and here.

Also with the increased activity on the forums, some of which is bound to be new members (I'm not sure on the statisticts) they may not know the Runescape sub-forum exists. I know when it first got put into a sub-forum I thought it just simply got deleted.

Making the Runescape part of the forum back into a section would benefit the users who frequent that section and would also help new members find it. I remember when I first signed upto HabboxForum I was browsing through the forum and saw there was a Runescape section and in all honesty that kept me around for quite awhile. If I didn't know it was there because it was hidden away as a sub-forum I probably would have left along time ago.

So I ask a simple question, would it be at all possible to bring back the Runescape Section and get rid of the sub-forum?

Agreed will be a lot more active as of the 1st of feb look how iys picked up already and freetrade isn't even back yet

I agree. Surely it can be bought back as easy as it's taken away? So think from now til activity declines it should be retrialed, atleast for a month.

I agree that this should be done, this in itself will increase the runescape forums activity and may attract rs users to the forum as a result.

Perhaps a trial period from Feb 1st to March 1st as that is when Runescape is to bring back wildy and free trade. If it declines in that month then by all means they can put it back as a sub-forum.
I have just been looking at the forum now, and in the past 5minutes the Runescape sub-forum had the most view out of all the section.

Although that it has only been done recently, I agree. With the changes Jagex are going to implement, it only seems reasonable enough to move this back as a normal forum, considering activity has already been on the rise with different users which have been posting in the last year or so, for example.

i think it should be how it used to be :) sub-forums is annoying :(

I agree. Bring it back! It has been much more active lately because of the free trade and old wildy vote and bringing it back as a forum again should keep it active

I think there is a harm in a trial period, but I don't think that means the Runescape section shouldn't come back. I'm sure management will post here eventually but from prior experience (assuming that policy hasn't changed), allowing trial periods usually isn't done simply because then everyone wants to "try" their forum out.

Usually what is done is proving a need and then getting the forum. Certainly a pickup in activity is good, but considering that it is the result of an exciting new announcement, I'd be interested to see if the pickup continues. I would suggest waiting two weeks or possibly a month (so that the initial surge of interest as a result of the update isn't skewing the numbers) and then making your case in feedback with the increased activity. With the numbers behind you, the only counterargument I can see against it is that not enough time elapsed since the update and that activity will go back down. Hopefully activity will stay up though.

Agreed simply because of older users coming back (because of free trade coming back etc) and activity it really picking up in comparison to what it was when it became a sub-forum.

I agree with nvr that this increased activity might not hold for very long so it'll be interesting to see where it goes. Despite that, new members aren't stupid, I'm sure if they wanted to find the runescape forum, they'd have a guess that it's in Online Games especially when the forum description even mentions it.

I get the trial period thing, where it would be a boom then fail miserably once its no longer a trial.
Also the counterargument is valid and its a damn good one, as you have said hopefully the section will keep being active. Looking back it was extremly active when Runescape had these old rules so I'm predicting it'll slowly go back to how the section used to be.

Tbh I don't pay much attention to the section descriptions and I dont think many others do, you could argue that new users would but I know I didn't when I was new. The Forum was just plain and simple there was a section for trading, habbo news, habbo glitches and hacks, runescape, console games, online games, and general it was just so much easier to navigate. Which it isn't now, to get to a thread I want to view in the Runescape section it takes a bit of scrolling 4 clicks to actually look at the thread I want to view unless it has the most recent post. I know it would only be reduced to 3 clicks if the section was to be reinstated and this isnt turning into a good argument as to why it should be reinstated more just me rambling as I come to think about it. But people nowa days want everything to be done as quickly as possible and thats what I'm trying to get at. Ease of access and use. The fact I've got to go through online games to get to the Runescape section is just an inconvenience, and this inconvenience isnt just for a minority it gets the most views as a sub-forum now than any other section so if anything its a majority.

Do you know when these changes are going to be made to RuneScape?

I completely agree with Nvr here. I would rather watch the changes be made and see if it can keep a good, high activity to make it eligable for it's own forum again. If we do keep nice consistent activity then I don't see the problem in removing RuneScape as a subforum and making it a proper forum, but I don't want to go down the route of making it a proper forum and then having to remove it again due to lower activity.

These changes will be Happening on the 1st Feb :)
the main changes that is; so i believe there is plenty of time for observation to see if activity in the forum does rise significantly.

I have noticed a pretty big rise in activity in Runescape for a good few weeks now so I would, personally, support the move back to it's own forum. :)

Is it not a click of a button job? Surely more people would use it if it was on the front page rather than hidden which increases it's overall activity?

Yep it's definately picking up again and will increase with the re-release of now defunct features which caused many users to quit.

I don't see no reason not trialing it, and it has been picking up.

Not only is wildy & free trade coming back I heard that "drops" are being allowed back (e.g, you drop your stuff and everyone can see it - no matter the value - hence allowing drop trading to come back) but that's just a rumour.

I want to be a member again lol, my membership just ran out :( oh well, I'm in favour of this anyway.

This isn't going to be one of those instances where a forum dies, gets moved, magically comes to life, gets moved back to where it was, dies again and you get an irritating circle of misfortunate events, is it? Bring it back as a trial by all means, but if it dies again keep it as a subforum until it comes back to life properly.

The big picture is that its a bad practice to adopt because of the implications it has for forum requests in the future. Certainly this is slightly different, but not (imo) extenuating enough that we won't have arguments about it in the future. Our members love to debate things so much and we spend hours dealing with technicalities (and I won't speak for others but for the most part I loved doing it as long as it was constructive - because it showed that at least some of the people really cared about Habbox's future, although some were just being obstinate). For this reason, having set policies for certain situations and general rationale can make things much easier as far as running the forum in a transparent and understandable way.

Well I think the answer is then is for the Runescape members to keep it active and spread the word to maintain sufficient activity then it looks like the forum could be back. It would be great to see . :)

It's not about the effort it takes to move a forum, that could be done in seconds it's the point of why this forum was moved to a subforum in the first place (not so long ago let's remember) - to move it back now would be a bit silly as activity has only increased recently - we cannot guaruntee that this activity will stay the same therefore it is the wisest decision to wait and see, if I had a Forum Manager who saw an idea in feedback and jumped at it without thinking about it properly then a month down the line the runescape forum was dead again and clogging up space on the index, that forum manager would look like a bit of a muppet, I know this because it's something I did a couple of times when I was Forum Manager and trust me it's one of the biggest mistakes you can make.

Read Catzsy's post and we'll see where it goes!

It's obvious what needs to be done guys so ditch this thread and head over to the RuneScape section, like Catzsy has said.

look there doesn't need to be a big debate about this with each post containing a massive 200 word paragraph.

its simple..
- free trading + wildy coming back = more people going to use forums
- its sub-forum and most users don't really look in there

I'm going to stand by what I said. Should these changes make the RuneScape forum a lot more active and keep it active for a good period of time then I have no problem with moving the RuneScape forum back.

I'd love to see the forum back to it's rightfull place aswell, it's a shame it died in the first place. I'm with gm on this one though, it would be a bit silly if they jumped on any decision without carefully watching it first.

They should at least trial it for a month at least, as we have no idea what could happen. It could stay the same, or it could be ten times better.
