As per the other thread that was closed with no explanation, yet another 500 error.
+1 for 500
yeah took me ages to post a reply to a thread - was not impressed.
Yea the errors seem to be on and off atm, or were not long ago.
I don't get it I live and breathe habbox 24/7 and I never have these problems
I get these problems occasionally to, so something is up with the forum.
Dear god buy somewhere to backup the data to, call a day or twos worth of downtime and reinstall the damn OS, don't optimise it to the point of destruction and get some god damn decent software on there.
Why do you even need cPanel, I don't know.
I get 500's every so often.
I swear these tend to happen whenever I make complicated Advanced Searches? It was working fine before, I try to make a complicated advanced search and bam the forum is down, and it isn't the first time this has happened.
Well anyway, I'm going to take credit for taking HxF down this time.
I spend my life on hxf and my computer and have noticed atleast 50 errors in the past week. But somehow I missed the maintenance yesterday so I don't think what I say counts :hmm:
Oh yeah that maintenance lied to me it said it'd be online sooner than I thought but that made me think it'd be like a minute so yeah good story right
They happen all the time during early morning UK times.
There have been problems with the search function since the upgrade to vB4 as far as I am aware, although there were steps to fix this taken and it did improve however it's still not perfect.
No other forum I have ever visited in my life is as buggy as this and Habbox is hardly *HUGE*
i get constant 500 errors, and saturday it lagged me out so much i had to bloody reset my wireless.
I've had a few. I'm not entirely sure why the other thread was closed though :/ Surely being reminded there are errors with the forum and the site in general isa good thing, so you get a rough idea of when such errors appear?
How comes Habbox doesn't have the host deal with problems? Usually it comes packaged and you get good deals :/
Habbox host on their own dedicated server (which from my understanding is complete overkill for the forum and other Habbox sites combined, yet still somehow manages to break the one site (forum) that is hosted on it). Not sure how correct I am though, but last time I knew, it WAS overkill.
Can I just remind people not to criticise or question the decisions of Jin otherwise you might end up in a spot of bother :/
It is fairly unreliable and slow at times but for quite an amateurish site it's not surprising.
It's very surprising to see this level of errors on a board when as said before even amateur sites can stay up.
Probably just an issue with overcompensating. The forum I had to fix has literally no optimisations other than memcache + vbcache and it runs just swell, never errors or explodes.
But I guess that's what you get!, maybe we should downgrade to vb3
or perhaps an upgrade to a different forum software I guess.
apt is not a word I'd use to describe vbulletin's ability to not be useless.
reply to this post if you agree or maybe even
disagree.
3 letters.
I P B.
EDIT: Agree with above ;)
So other one was closed because we don't need to moan in other threads about it... wat. Get a damn forum technician.
Thread go!
I like you and everything but god dam you moan so much. Anyway:
All of the errors you currently face on HabboxForum would not be fixed by a Forum Technician. Why? Well they don't have the extent of all access to all areas where as Jin would fix the errors himself and so on. The only thing that a technician would do for us at this moment in time is fix any skin problems that we may be facing, adding features or changing current features such as the spoiler styles and so on. (This is up to Jin on what access the person gets)
We do not require one immediately and there is no rush to get one into place and the reason we don't rush to get one into place is because there is a matter of trust involved. General Management and the Owners of Habbox do not like giving out admin powers or access to areas of the websites willy nilly and we will only give access if they need it do to their job and that we actually trust them. Because waking up one day and finding out the person who is a techie has done damage to the forum and what not will not really be "great news" to any of us.
I'm not saying we will never get another forum technician but we will when we feel we can trust someone and it's the correct time for them to get into that role.
I did say: fix any skin problems that we may be facing, adding features or changing current features such as the spoiler styles and so on.
So on meaning anything to do with the forum in terms of bugs that have been caused due to upgrading if possible.
The other stuff wouldn't be dealt by them. :P
Either way, I don't understand why everything is being treated as "excruciatingly, extremely low priority" by forum staff/Jin. The server is obviously having problems, any fool can see that. Far larger forums than Habbox manage to run on the same or lower spec to the Habbox servers without throwing up errors constantly.
If Jin doesn't want to hire a server technician than that's his choice.
Your attitude in the feedback forum is terrible. No offence.
Ok, so Habbox staff should be pushing him to get it fixed, if it comes to users complaining about it it's already gone a little far. These are all problems that should be fixed ASAP. Jin's attitude to how a server should function is also terrible, yes backups should happen, but they shouldn't bring down the entire forum (I know this doesn't happen anymore, but for years it did).
I don't have an attitude Tom I'm just stating that Jin owns Habbox it's his choice who has access to certain parts and if he wants to manage the server himself then that is his choice. You say "Habbox staff should be pushing him to get it fixed" - you don't know what Matt and I do behind the scenes or Jin for that matter - everytime there is a problem with this forum whether it lasts 30 seconds or 30 minutes Jin is informed by one of us, Jin doesn't need reminding that the forum has been facing problems and I can tell you now that he's been working on improving it over the past few weeks and nobody can deny the situation has improved gradually.
It's not going to happen overnight - that's not how Jin works and as much as feedback is appreciated here at Habbox, it's Jin's server he can do what he wants to it when he wants to do it. If there was a major problem (which there isn't) it would be addressed immediately, currently Habbox has the occasional hiccup but it's not as bad as it was at all and the only people moaning are you guys who know your tech stuff, if there was something causing major difficulty for a majority of users Jin would fix it immediately, but whilst the forum is running fine with one or two hiccups there's no need to be working on the server 24/7.
only jin is allowed any access to anything ever ever ever. first rule of habbox is you do not talk about server issues, second rule of habbox is you DO NOT talk about server issues.
