Plane Crashes in Greece

A Cypriot Helios Airways jet with 115 passengers and six crew members on board has crashed north of Athens, the Defence Ministry and fire department said.

The plane crashed near the coastal town of Kalamos, just north of Athens.

Eyewitnesses told an Athens radio station the plane was being followed by fighter jets when it went down.

It was unclear why the plane went down. The flight was headed from the Cypriot city of Larnaca to Athens International Airport.

After losing contact with the Athens control tower, the Greek air force scrambled two F-16 fighter jets.

Greek radio and television stations said the air force pilots reportedly saw no movement in the ****pit of the plane before the crash. Reports said one of the pilots may have fallen ill.

I heard their was a hole or something, somewhere in the plane. One of the pilots said the other pilots face was blue, and it could only be caused by the coldness of the outside, as they are so high up.

As both pilots started to freeze and feel unstable, the plane crashed. Tha was on a radio station..

It's terrible whats happening lately.

Firstly, an Air France plane overruns the runway, causing it to run into a ravine, and explode into flames. Luckily no one was hurt.
Secondly, an AirTunisa plane crashes into the sea, killing 13. Now, another aircraft goes down.

I was on a plane merely two days ago. I'm lucky it didn't go down, but then again I knew the chances were slim. (I'm so paranoid!)

Thats why im in two minds wether or not to go on planes, but you cant live your life like that

I was on the freeway when air france over ran the runway, so i saw it happen.

air travel is the safest method of transport. your more likely to be involved in a crash in your car than in a plane, it is just because plane crashes are so rare that they make it onto the news.

Its really frightening how many planes are crashing recently...

Cept there on some island being attacked by polar Bears in a Jungle :S

Well, to say 1000's/1000000s of planes set of a day. It isnt that many planes.
Sad/scary tho.

What about deaths? Survivors? Casualties? Was that there or did I miss it :s.

All 121 Passengers and crew all died before the plane hit the ground, including 48 Children! Most were frozen to death, the plane was flying without a pilot for 2 hours

It is terrible.

I'm not scared to go on planes, if your times up [time to die], you have to die.

Thats it, I'm not scared of dieing <3.

I dont care...
Well obviously about the fatalities..
I care about that, its really upsetting.
But it hasnt changed my mind to work for airlines (fly planes) I still wanna do that <3 taken everything i need for GCSEs XD
