My theory is that the myans', who created the calendar the "predicted" the end of the world ran out of rock before they finished making the calendar and said" well i hope the people of the future aren't stupid and think the end of the calendar meant the end of the world."

Wont happen, on the religious side, if you go upto a mayan, they know **** about it they will just look at you and think, WTF? when the mayan long count ends, a new one starts just like our calendars.. it's just christians making up bull, like the second returning of god in 2012, Now, this only happens when somethings wrong just like what happend in noahs ark where the world was in trouble (With loads of bad people, wars etc..) and sure we're in desprate state with wars, people not giving enough respect, but in the bible, god only returns when the 5th seal opens, we're only on third and even then god dosent return for another 1000 years after the 5th one is opend. So its just bull thats been twisted, it won't happen, there's no evidence to prove it.
ps. I know **** about christianity, i've just seen this youtube vid on it, was quite interesting..

Theres plenty of things in the universe that could kill us without us even knowing, for example, literal shooting stars.
I don't think there is anything at all for you to worry about! My personal opinion on this is that if the world was to be ending next year then scientists and specialists would be researching into it a lot more, and there would be much more attention from governments, the media etc.
If it does happen, I'm gonna be annoyed.. I've just paid for my summer holiday.

well its getting hilarious at this point.. The world was supposed to end about 70 times already....If it ends then it will be mans own doing out of stupidity or bieng paranoid.
Im an agnostic & im not sweating it.
What is going to be funny is when people go out and do all kinds of stupid things and the world doesnt end.
Even if one does believe in a judgement day like the bible says, the same bible says it will 'come as a thief in the night'. In other words no one will know when. So what's the use of trying to figure out when it will happen? You are sure to be wrong. So if you're a christian, live your life as, and do what, the bible tells you to. If you're not, what does it matter anyway?
I am agnosic. The world will probably end due to nuclear weapons sometime in our future. I don't believe any of that Mayan calender stuff, they had to stop making the calender sometime. Although it is very possible for a comet to strike earth and cause havoc.
scientists think another iceage is on its way after the last few winters in england i think they are right! The last few years have been getting worse and worse. One would assume it can only get better! But nature seems to always find a way to prove us wrong each year.
It's the time factor itself (billions of years, our sun going supernova, etc.) that gets everyone rapped around the axle and not the obvious lesson that we should learn from those that met their "END OF THE WORLD." There will be millions of "life-times" that will EXPIRE from this instant to the day that some believe the world will end. The time discussed is only relevant to our own consciousness of what we think, understand, and/or believe the "END OF THE WORLD" means. The world comes to an end for thousands of people everyday! Anecdotal evidence; over the past 70+ years, there have been thousands of passengers on board doomed airliners who found themselves plummeting to earth at hundreds of mile per hour and facing their "END OF THE WORLD."
Imagine those very last seconds as they realized their world was coming to an end. When a child dies, the parents' world comes to end metaphorically; yet humans who lucidly meet their untimely death, experience the end of the world literally. Those very, very few who have survived such cataclysmic events, have provided insightful meanings of what the after life has in store for us. They experienced compressed memory expandability, when in an instant, their entire life flashes before them. Now, what happens if collectively the world does not end on the dates prescribed...will that mean blasphemy, inaccuracy, human-malfunction...total nonsense? Each one of us will have to decide...but what if...(and this is where the discussion is ultimately achieved)...the earth physically ends one day ...one week...one month...one year...a decade or one century later??? It will be the inaccuracy that will end some peoples' faith in the bible. If the Bible is a stalwart of of one's faith, this will cause consternation amongst those having that faith. There are two paths here: 1-The belief in the bible's teachings OR 2- Scientific factual analysis of physics. One thing is for certain: we will all experience the "END of THE WORLD" sooner or later one way or another. LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST!
