Have you ever de-fragmented your PC? Also, it'd be wise to go through and delete any unused programmes
un-install unused programs, delete unused files etc
make sure there's no spyware or viruses on your computer
remove some of the icons from your desktop
I like to use CCleaner or msconfig to remove unnecessary start up services.
Since it looks like you have a HP, there's guaranteed to be a load of crap starting up with the PC.
yh remove desktop icons, I only have desktop icons for like my 5ish top things I use and why do u have so many pinned stuff omg that would do my head in
Why do you have HP bloatware installed?
It came with the laptop, and its a compaq btw
Ah, HP own Compaq so that might be why :P
In any case, those programs can slow it down.
Is it okay to uninstall it?
Backup, format, reinstall with official Microsoft Windows disks.
Remove start up programs because they can take away from your computer performance
To free up space check to see if you have got any windows.old files lurking around because clearing them out can revive space that isn't being used!Quote:
By default, most of the applications, when you install creates an entry in the startup and it loads every time you start your computer whether you are using it or not. It utilizes the RAM and thus reducing the performance.

I also noticed you speaking about bloatware and yes, that's fine to remove. Bloatware is just 'value added programs' and they're pretty crap. Here is a short list:Quote:
To cleanup the Windows.old folder, you can click on the Vista pearl, type "disk clean" and hit enter to open the Disk Cleanup tool. Choose "Files from all users on this computer" and choose the drive you want to clean. After it lists what is available to "clean", scroll down and select Windows.old from the list of choices. Then delete as desired!
You can use a tool called PCDecrapifier which is a program made especially for the removal of bloatware. Find it at http://pcdecrapifier.com/!Quote:
Vonage (or something related to it)
HP Customer Experience Enhancements
HP Easy Setup - Frontend
HP Help & Support (I guess if you really don't know what you're doing?)
HP Photosmart Essential 2.0
HP Quick Launch Buttons
HP Quickplay 3.2 (I didn't find a purpose for it)
HP Update (I heard it was just like MS Updates)
HP Network/Wireless Assistant
Norton AV/Internet Security
Good luck, let me know how you get on.
PCDecrapifier will help you to remove the bloatware on your laptop. The rest of the steps I've written need to be manually done by following the links in the quotes and then following the instructions.
I doubt the people in your mothers place of work will have the time to help you out but you could always give it a shot.
Okay, I just looked at add or remove programs

Why have i got so much of them visual c things and what are they?
Get a better laptop lol
i had a slow laptop for quite some time, i tried everything & nothing seemed to have any effect until i cleaned its fan
if you have a laptop it's easier because you just blow hard into the fan (when battery is removed) or if you wanted a thorough clean you would take the whole back off until the fan is exposed and then blow compressed air into it. (same for towers)
