Do your parents favouritise your siblings?

Don't think there's a thread like this recently, if there is please merge/close it.

Anyway, do you get better thought of more than your siblings or do they get better thought of than you. What's happened to make them do this and has it happened for a long time? Also if there isn't any favouritism within your household you can still discuss that.

No matter how much my mum says it I think she favouritises my sister over me sometimes. I think because they are both healthy eating and share more of a bond she gets better thought of. Like when I want my boyfriend to come over it's all 'well she will be bored all day' and 'it's not really fair on her is it?' maybe she does get bored, maybe it isn't fair but at the end of the day she didn't want him coming around so often and he doesn't anymore, what's one day gonna hurt? Now that occurred he is basically not allowed to come and we're basically not like other couples.

No doubt she'll be allowed her partner over anytime if she got one.
Like at birthdays too, she'll get something or money for clothes whereas I don't really get as much. Anyway, it sounds like I'm ranting and of course she doesn't favouritise her all the time but I also thing because I'm someone who isn't obsessively fussed about their appearance either my mum just wants a girl who is into that stuff etc. too.

nope. we're all treated fairly and if we weren't then i'm sure one of us would speak up about it, haha!

I'm an only child so it would be a bit awkward if there was favouritism.. :P

we kinda are treated fairly but as im at home more than my siblings (uni, college etc) my mum does favouritise me a little bit. i dont mind it tbh, i like spending time with her. My sister don't really care if i am favouritised

I think me and my brothers are all equally as close to my parents so there isn't any favouritism, that I can tell anyway but it's most likely because we seem to change between who spends more time with our parents. I could be spending most days with my mum and then the next week, it'd be my brother who is with my mum more and what not.

In my house it feels like, my brother gets their money but I get their attention and trust.

He prefers his, I prefer mine.

My mother absolutely favouritises my little brother, and it drives me cray cray.

Especially when she denies she doesn't, when it's blatantly obvious.

my little brother is a little **** and he gets away with everything, if he annoys me and I like hit him [not even hard] he pretends to cry then I get in trouble and grounded :@ but I still go out so then they get madder at me and ground me for longer -.-

my little sister is disabled so (fairly) she gets far more attention than me and my other sister. i've never really felt they treated us any differently, i think i did when i was younger but i kinda realised i was wrong and grew out of it :P

sometimes different siblings need different things, and sometimes yr parents are happy to sit back and let you do yr thing cause they feel yr doing it right compared to yr sibling who may need more help.

plus i'm 21, i don't need my fam to be watching me all the time anyway.

My mum never favouritises me or my brother, if she buys one of something she always buys the other something too :)

No, my brother and I get on very well, and he's at home a lot more since he dropped out of uni so they gave him loads of attention for like a week before he cut himself off and shut himself in his room again. Privacy. I agree.

So no, but I am probably a more sociable person and they would probably like me more if they did have a "favourite child"..

I'm the middle child and sometimes I've felt a little left out (oldest gets better treatment for being the first and youngest gets better treatment for being the baby) but I don't think it happens really in my family, it's just that we're all very different people - if I did get any less attention it's because I was quieter and didn't really demand any rather than because I'm less loved. These days I get more attention technically since I'm the only one living at home (NEVER LEAVING SOZ MUM) but I think we're all pretty well catered for

It's clear that im the favourite between myself and my sister.

i think i'm my moms favourite becuase my sister is 14 and she is a moody ***** at times

My sister gets all the attention cos she's the baby and my brother is the charismatic del boy of the family so they like him more too so they do favourtise them more I think but it doesn't really bother me as I no longer demand their love or attention. I don't need them to show that they love me, I know they just do.

If I ever do wrong on accident I get one of the most horrid shouting at, but if my sister who done something wrong on accident my dad will be like "Oh nevermind, It can be fixed"

I've always had a tiff with my dad so I'm not really surprised.
My mum on the other hand treats us fairly so it's all good :)

I think my sister is like their more favourite most of the time because they don't understand depression and OCD and I have some rather bad mood swings. Overall, I suppose they're fair to us both but they are generally a little nicer to my sister. They never see her being rude to me and seeing as I'm older, I get the blame. *Sighs*

i don't have any siblings so yanno haha, glad i don't because my parents probably would have a favourite..

I have one younger sister and I don't feel favouritised or the alternative at all :)

erm ive never had a relationship with my dad whereas my brother talks with him a bit

my mum I'd like to think im her favourite as we see eye to eye more than her and my sister but pretty sure she favours my sister over me and my bro

My brother gets everything he wants. I have an older sister (18 months older) and a younger brother (3 and a bit years younger).

Any fight he's in with either me or my sister, mum would always take his side and say that I or my sister started it.

He gets bought anything he wants. My sister I had to wait until we were 11 for a mobile and we got iPods for our 12th birthday... but he got a mobile when he was 9 and and an iPod for his 11th birthday.

My sister and I started doing chores to earn money when we were like 10 and he's 13 and he still does **** all around the house, yet gets paid just a little less than me a week.

Now for easter he's gone on holiday to his mates caravan, yet I'm not allowed to go stay in a hotel with my friends even though he's in Wales and we only wanted to go to Weston.

WELL i'm the youngest so my dad's always made my brothers clean up and help around with everything and yh i did get more for christmas/birthdays but now i have to do most of the work and idk we kinda get an equal amount for christmas/birthdays. i don't think i'm anyone's favourite it's just that i was the youngest.

for the past 12 yrs my mum has ALWAYS prefered my brother over me but since last last year its turned around which im rly happy about tbh, time he knew what it's like to be treated badly omg

Urm not really, I reckon that my mum probably does to me a lot of the time though because I'm the only boy she's always saying like "okay I'll buy you that but don't tell your sisters" and stuff like that but I wouldn't call it favouritism, we all get treated equally at the end of the day.

I'm the middle child of three so I sometimes feel that I was ignored especially when I was younger but then my older brother became a failure and fell out with my mums side of the fail so my mum tends to treat me and my younger brother the same!

I'd love to say no but sadly yes. My Mum has pretty much disowned my brother because he's an idiot. That just leaves me. I mean my brother has just turned 18 and he's got into smoking weed & stuff so my Mum has just told him where to go. I'm almost 21 and my Mum kinda treats me so much better than my brother. I never go without anything, haha

My Dad has too many kids I've kinda lost count and I never see him.. lol

I would say if anyone was treated like the favourite it'd be me. Simply because me and my bro live with my mam and my brother and my mam don't really get on that well most of the time. I'm closer to my mum and am willing to actually talk to her sometimes. Also because my brother is at uni now obvs I spend like 95% more time with her than my bro. Also when he lived here he was always the one to do the washing up ahah :p but saying that, my mum made special allowances for my brother like she'd always try and do things for him because he was so unwilling to accept help.

My brother also seems to think that I get loads more stuff than him, which is true I guess but because I ASK FOR IT. He just holds it as a secret vendetta against my mum when he wants something but wont ask for it like she's supposed to mind read........... erm no.
