Marriage

What's your opinion on marriage?

In my opinion, from what I've seen, it seems like most marriages end in divorce (obviously not all!). I don't care too much for it and I don't see it as important in my life and I don't care if I never do. I'm not too bothered about getting engaged, as in my eyes that's a commitment - which I think is nice. If I was to get married, it would be after (if) I have children and they were old enough to remember it. I also would attempt to refrain from it being an expensive wedding, low key with not many people attending but family and close friends.

Although, saying all that, marriages are beautiful :) and genuinely makes me happy to see people getting married. It's just not important for me :P

Idk!! :(. I don't know whether I want to be married or not haha, if I ever did get married/entered a civil partnership... unless the law on same-sex marriage changes, lord knows what will happen in regards to that.. nyway, if it was a marriage I'd be the one organising absolutely everything lmfao. It just all seems so exciting to have a wedding :]. Not gonna let some "bridezilla" try take control :l.

I think people can be a bit careless in engagement/married these days. Some propose after a few months and I think it's a bit silly tbqh. My friend got engaged when she was... 15 or 16 I believe and it's ridiculous. She broke up with the guy a few months later (but for a VERY good reason >.<) , got involved with another one and a few months in he proposed and she said yes. I just don't think people should be making that engagement decision at such a young age.

Not quite sure about marriage. I mean, I'd love to get married and things, but for me it really isn't the most important thing and I would be worried that it would complicate things. Unlike Warren, I really wouldn't want to be in control lol. I'd want someone else preparing it, not because I'm lazy or anything, but because I'd **** it up.

I agree though, I do like going to weddings because it's lovely seeing people so happy. I find it so cute and stuff, aw.

Marriage just seems like such a a huge commitment to make, and yeah i get what you are saying most of them end in divorce, so i don't really have any interest in it right now, or any time soon to say the truth. Whilst your young you should just be looking to have a good life and make the most of everything, no point in getting tied down i don't think :L

It's nice and for a hell of a lot of people it's a big part of the path to happiness, but I don't know if it's for me. I'd like the wedding and stuff but being polyamorous presents a fair few problems when it comes to marriage, not least the legal aspect :P Frankly if I'm going to be committed to someone for a long time I'd like to think that I wouldn't need the fear of losing all my assets and kids in order to keep me from being a good partner

Can't see myself ever ready for a marriage

i can't ever see myself getting married
main reason i want to is to look pretty for a day
but i also want it to be a day where i can look back at my pictures and think "yeah i was happy and in love" not cause i felt pressured or anything like that
i don't see it happening and i don't like huge shows or attention on me so it'd probably be something quite low key and probably not till 30's
i think it's just nice to 'seal the deal' sorta. if im in a long term relationship with kids then i wanna get married. have the whole package.

I used to think I'd definitely do it but people find it far too difficult to stay around me as I have some very... weird... reactions and things, in real life. I'm not sure I can even commit myself for that long, even if I did want to commit why would I need to spend thousands of pounds on a glorified party, as I don't even believe in God so can't use that excuse.

I don't like the idea of all my possessions instantly becoming half someone elses with the potential of them essentially being stolen in future. However if this feeling goes and they want to get married, then I would be up for it though I will not seek marriage.

I dont want marriage. Pay a load of money for a stupid wedding to either be divorced or hit with a bat and get your life insurance.

Of course, most marriages dont end up in a killing lmao, but a lot get divorced and I dont see the point wasting a lot of money on it. Marriage means nothing but a waste to me.

i don't think i can ever see myself getting married because i don't think i can commit to something like that because i usually get bored easily haha. also, if i did ever get married i know it probably wouldn't last because i'm a bossy neat freak and they'll get tired of me and the divorce procedure is too much effort and they'll probably end up with half of my possessions! i actually think marriage is really cute and a lovely way of showing your love to each other and others but then again i always think why should people have to get married to show how much they love someone? i don't know it's all confusing for me really.

I can only think of downsides to marriage

I do plan on getting married in the distant future, but as many people have rightly said, a large majority have ended in divorce. A lot of people jump head first into getting married without really thinking twice and they end up finding out things about their other half, that they should have known pre-marriage, decide they don't like those aspects and get divorced.
I would like to grow as an individual before I even think about being with someone for the rest of my life. Right now I'm fully focused on my career goals and getting 'set-up' in life. Wanna be a free spirit for a while :P

I believe in marriage, and realistically engagement will only be a couple of years off for me so marriage will be just a few years off from that - but I'm unsure how it's going to be on the day, I'm very anti-religious (that actually sounds a lot worse than it should), as in, I'm a firm believer there is no God, so I wouldn't get married in a church with a vicar etc. - but then I can't see myself getting married in some ordinary room with some woman in a suit marrying us.

As to married life, it won't bother me.

I'm quite traditional I guess and I would definitely want to get married. Not for a while though, I wouldn't get engaged young, or to someone who I'd been in a relationship for only a little while, and I wouldn't want to get married after only being engaged for a little while.

I would want to get married in the near future but not for another 3/4 years. And I wouldn't want a big wedding.

I think a low-budget, low-key wedding with just close people there is the way to go, none of the big BAM in your face kinda stuff, get a nice cake and the place look nice yeah, but it doesn't have to cost a bomb. Overall the whole marriage thing is really just having a ring and papers to say 'i love you', when really you don't need that, the person should know it without having to get married!!

To be honest, I think it's pretty pointless. You don't need to 'put a ring on it' to show that you're committed to a person. And there's always the issues of possessions and trust.

I can't see myself ever getting married, I don't like feeling like im stuck with one person so a marriage would be the last thing i done :P

I think the marriage of a man and a woman is a wonderful thing, something many don't take seriously afterwards anymore (sadly).

what how have i not posted in here yet, i realllly want to get married and hava a massssive wedding seriously it's my idea of perfection especially when i saw kim kardashian's wedding

Nope, I'm too bitter and cynical to stay around one person for the rest of my life.

Don't think I'd want to get married tbh. I don't need somebody to tell me that I'm tied to my partner forever, I think I'll be able to tell that for myself if I think I've found the right person.

The woman in a suit will be a man in a suit in a fancy hotel :P No church.

I think society is all 'you should only get married as a religious thing, in the eyes of god,' but for me it's not like that at all. Marriage is a way to show and express the love two people have for each other. It's a chance to celebrate that love. And then I know people will say, 'Shouldn't you show it and celebrate it every day?' Well, yes, but...

I don't know. All I know is I want to marry the man I love in an unreligious but meaningful ceremony :)
