Usually I don't have a problem with keeping awake, it's usually the other way around :P
But if I need to stay awake, then I'll make sure I have loads of water and sugary foods, I can't sleep if I need to pee constantly :P
I just try to concentrate on what I'm doing and get some fresh air, normally does the trick.
Doing something, I can feel really tired sitting and watching TV, But if I come on the PC, Start cooking, doing anything it keep you occupied and awake I find.
As I'm usually texting someone before falling to sleep I keep clicking my phone for a reply, it usually works really.
I had to do this yday actually. I was falling asleep in sociology to the point where I was still trying to take notes yet they were just coming out as scribbles. I had to have a drink of water and then I felt more awake, sounds weird but it worked.
I don't. :P
Like in lectures, I just take a drink and wake myself up again, but if I'm going to sleep soon, I check my phone. Otherwise I don't really...

But water is usually a good idea, getting your face wet is pretty good
