Okay so I have an absolutely DISGUSTING wooden desk, it has scratches all over it and just looks in a state. The obvious answer would be to just buy a new one but I can't really afford to at the moment. My question, can any piece of wooden furniture sand down? Sounds silly but I've no clue! Help!!
If it's real wood and not just chipboard covered in the wood effect stuff then yeah you should be fine. Once you've done it put some varnish or something on top to darken it a bit and help protect it

it'll go the colour it is where it's been worn down/scratched, it might look nice when it's all like that but if you just leave it as that and don't varnish it, say if you spilt a cup of tea, that would work its way into the grain and stain the desk more permanently, but if you varnish it, it'll just sit on the top. I'm sure there's colours of varnish you can get which wouldn't be far off from it anyway if that's what you wantQuote:
