So er can there be a celebrity sub-forum so real news can actually be found? Sure sex and subo are trying to make a funny and obviously get a reaction - don't need a big debate over it, just move the celebrity threads away from real news lol

Yes to this.
Before they interfere and say "our threads are popular", probably because only joke replies or replies questioning why the thread is there, have been posted.
Not much need for a feedback thread really, just need Matt or Chris to get online and sort it out frankly.
As I've said, some of the threads are worthy of being there, others aren't. I'd personally be against sub-forums, since sub-forums suck.
Just put it in discuss anything instead. Current Affairs is not cosmo.
There actually used to be a celebrity gossip sub forum if my memory serves correctly.
there's no need for a sub forum they're fine as they are. the celebrity threads are still news threads no matter how important they are..
The Onion one definitely needs to go lol Current Affairs are supposed to be real :L
Inseriousty likes the celebrity threads being there.. that doesn't help lol
I was merely implying moving them away from the actual current affairs :L
For the record, a celebrity gossip sub-forum should not be created because of an increase in forum activity in that area, as what was decided with the RuneScape sub-forum debate.
Thing is though, technically 'current affairs' doesn't mean politics and the 'serious' news. All this celebrity gossip is supposedly news (although I'm not so sure I'd read the Daily Mail as my chosen news outlet).
As I said previously, my problems are with other forum rules being broken rather than where it's being placed.
Onion News should be moved to spam though, yes.
no more sub forums and no more restrictions
habbox is a sinking ship, theres bigger problems than someone spamming current affairs
So I'm allowed to post threads in current affairs showing the growth of my grass or the paint drying on my walls, because I might find it interesting and it's truthful? :P
So surely the verified twitter account isn't classified as news.
I was going to say that Bieber passing 40m followers would be news, since I would expect somewhere out there it would be reported, but turns out that HxF is the first google result for that. So, that's not news either really.

You think a news site that has a picture of an alien coming out of Kate Middleton's stomach is being serious?
you could argue that she doesn't deserve the verified account considering how much of a mess she is
and i wouldn't say that you'd need a site to have posted it previously for it to be considered news as long as you can prove it's true
although: http://www.nydailynews.com/entertain...icle-1.1363037 & http://www.entertainmentwise.com/new...breaker-Lyrics
Shows you how out of tune I am that I got the articles the wrong way round :P Then fair enough, that can be considered news in my books. I guess it depends what management decides really.
I think the rule of 'If it's true you can post it' isn't strict enough. Does that mean I can post when my auntie turns 40, because I can prove it's true? :P
We're not having a subforum. I don't know what some of that rubbish is about, I mean who really cares what colour bikini someone has worn? This is probably just another one of those silly fazes that will pass in a few days. :¬:

I can imagine some people won't react too kindly to that :P But I pretty much agree :)
Instead of a subforum, just have prefixes like news, celeb gossip, etc
Let's make a distinction here between spam and celebrity gossip.
It is my opinion that the current affairs forum should not be restricted to just political news. There are news of all kinds and you post what you're interested in. Tabloids run celebrity gossip all the time so I do not think it is necessary to stop such threads from said forum or that it is wrong for them to be there simply because it is not news you are personally interested in. However, that doesn't mean you can spam the forum with bikini pics and a new thread for each time it happens for example and as far as I know they were rightly merged and spam threads moved accordingly. I also don't think that just because a topic is not serious political debate that it can't be moved in that direction so using the Amy childs example again think you could easily post about a debate on the sexism of tabloid celebrity gossip coverage.
I go away for a few hours and the current affairs forum has been spammed. However, this just seems so similar to the whole argument surrounding fast threads. Lets hope this time I don't have to repeat myself five times before someone actually reads what I've said, but there is no need to change the forum structure. There is no need for a sun forum. There is definitely no need for prefixes, and in this case I'd say they'd be worse than a sub forum. Whether you like it or not, whether you find it interesting or not, or whether you think it belongs in that forum or not.. it is still news. However, for those cases where it gets the point of ridiculousness, the current forum rules can deal with it just fine. There is no need for further action and I'm sure this 'phase' won't last long anyway.
I disagree, while their threads aren't my cup of tea - they seem to be getting a fair few replies and it is livening that forum up.
Keep it up I say. :P
so we have accepted that the forum IS to include celeb gossip and news stories as well as politics but now only the politics is allowed in there and the celeb news stories go to spam just because 2 or 3 ppl said so and dont care about them
evidently the bulk of the forum dont care about the politics threads seeing as they barely ever get posted in so why do the more active threads in the current affairs forum that ppl have actually posted in go in spam? why not the other way around. wat if i said all the politics threads should go in spam (i wouldnt say that cos im not ignorant enough). why does anything have to go in spam? why cant they exist together idgi
:S
I vote no, I hate sub-forums with a passion. The reason for making one for this instance is pretty daft as well. The forum isn't busy and the recent dud articles aren't problematic at all, you would have to be pretty lazy or mentally inept if you can't find political or big news in a forum which, contrary to the belief, isn't teeming with activity and new threads...
May I therefore question if I can make a thread in the tango news and tumours forum talking about "famous" habbos actions? Since last time I checked they always got moved because they "weren't really news".
A subforum was an example guys, have a biz forum if you like lol

Now that is some epic auto correct right there.
To remain on topic; we need management to define what goes in current affairs really. I don't mind the gossip as long as it follows the other forum rules. Having fake news; or multiple threads about near enough the same thing, shouldn't happen.
I don't even know what to think. In my head anything that is news and is from actual news sites should be allowed to be posted in that forum. Then you have the issue with the "fake" or "joke" news sites that only have the purpose of making articles that is 100% bull. But would you still consider that news/current affairs? I wouldn't personally. But others may say it can still fit within that forum.
This sounds like its going to be of those things that lasts a couple of days and then no one bothers.
Hopefully it returns to myself, Dan and a few others talking about some hard news issues. Although celebrity news is news and you cannot deny it as its each to their own tastes; a thread such as OMG Kate Middleton had to leave a ceremony because her baby was kicking and she had stomach cramps is really not news, although to some such as the 'Daily Fail' it could be considered so.
Also, come on, The Onion, really. Armageddon is going to come next week and we'll have an alien invasion.
it was an honest mistake from comity jesus let him live without ur scrutiny. his thread about massacre shoes was accident and does not represent every showbiz thread
Technology News is technically Current Affairs, yet I and most people continue to post all technology news in Technology Discussion. Now that seems like a contradiction since news should go in current affairs, but what we really need to understand is that forums are about dividing content into rough categories such that people can get all the type of content they like by reading that particular forum.
What we can now bear in mind is that people who typically read and browse the current affairs forum are not in the slightest interested in celebrity gossip (Or entirely false news for that matter). Now it just so happens that we have a 'catch all' forum designed for just this kind of thing called Discuss Anything. Going by the typical content in discuss anything it seems that people who use that forum frequently would be far more receptive to Celebrity gossip than those who read current affairs, so perhaps that would be a more suitable location for those kinds of threads.
