A 14 year old girl was hiding her pregnancy for 9 months when her water broke she panicked and hid in her bathroom and gave birth to her son on her own. She then strangled the baby boy who was perfectly healthy to his death and hid him in a shoe box. Thoughts on this?

I want to know why a 14-year-old child is having sex in the first place! Add on that she got pregnant, and then murdered an infant. She deserves everything she gets. Let this be a lesson to young teens who think it's okay to go around having sex before they are even legal. Consequences happen!
I want to know more. Was she raped? Did she fully consent to sexual intercourse? Who is the father? She's wrong to kill a healthy baby, and incredibly silly for hiding the pregnancy.
A situation which could've been avoided if she had just told someone, which would've opened up numerous options. I'm going to make the assumption she felt she had little social support from her family/friends to have to keep such a thing a secret. @Charz777; she clearly needs and deserves help... Pregnancy and childbirth is one of the most scariest things ever to grown adults never mind a child. I feel sorry that she felt she had no other options.
imo all teenage girls should just be made to witness a gruelling 12 hour labour resulting in a 3rd degree perineum tear... would put them off for life!

This was over a year ago. She got sentenced to 18 months in a juvenile centre. The would-be father was a classmate who at the time of conception was her boyfriend but they broke up before all this happened
First of all 14 years old having a kid is quite young and at that age they are most likely not mature enough.
Seeing this makes me grossed out. If you want to have sex without protection, take the consequences....the child didn't ask to be born and be killed afterwards!! Personally there are quite sick people in this world and this girl should go to jail for murderer and take the consequences that she deserved!!

Not trying to defend her, but what's the difference between abortion and killing a baby the minute it's born. They both had about the same experience of life, just seems a bit hypocritical for people to say abortion is fine but this is wrong.
However, she might have been raped or anything, we don't know all the facts. Also, there could be a number of reasons why she hid the pregnancy.
yeah cause contraception is 100% effective.. & about '14' is too young, 14 is only too young cause kids are taught to be kids and irresponsible all through their early teens, wasn't always that way, people have been having kids as young as that since the world began and still do in some culture. kids are only immature because they aren't taught responsibility. I think ive had the same mindset and maturity since i was 15, so not far off 14, + could been capable of looking after a child at that ageQuote:

@gibs660; abortion is different though, they aren't fully developed or old enough to live if they were to come out the mothers body, a full term baby can survive on its own for a bit or with adopted parents...
If you take a group of cells after they've been fertilised and see if they survive on their own in the outside world, they won't. A baby can. That's why people have issues with the current abortion limit in the UK, because babies aborted at 23/24 weeks *can* survive, although with a lot of help.Quote:

I think he was trying to say that after a baby is born, you wrap it in a blanket and hand it to the mother. I can pretty much guarantee if you wrap a ball of cells in a blanket and hand it to its mother it's not going to survive very long :P
