I did the goodreads reading challenge with the goal of reading 100 books in 2013 which I met. My goal in 2014 is 200 books.
Anyone else doing a reading challenge, what's your goal?

I have never heard of the Reading Challenge? I am guessing you just read a heap of books and get people to sponsor you and donate the money to a charity? Well done for reading 100 books though!
mmm i think i'll try this, i've already got one down!!
may aswell start and keep myself updated here.
1. In Praise Of Messy Lifes - Katie Roiphe
No it's not although that would be a good idea!
It's basically just a goal you set yourself to see if you can read a certain amount of books by the end of the year and you can keep track of it by updating it on goodreads every time you've read a book. I'm a bit of a book nerd so I decided I wanted to keep note of all the books I have read.

This actually sounds really good! Do textbooks count haha?
200 books in a year is a lot, that's like a book every 1 1/2 days!
Even 100 is a hell of a lot too, so well done on that :P
I found a list of 100 books to read before you die and I've been trying to get through that for the best part of 3 years now, I get really bogged down with the books I have to read for my (English Literature) degree though which means I have to focus on them instead.
My list for the (very) near future is:
Stone Gods (Jeanette Winterson)
Fault in Our Stars
Cloud Atlas (David Mitchell) - absolutely necessary as my diss is based on it (oops should have read by now)
and 1984 (again)
I suffer from insomnia :P. I find it quite hard to sleep at night so I read to pass the time on some nights I can manage to read two books.
It'll be nice to hear everyone's progress :)
I'm currently on book number 7
shar! list your books please
the ones i'm hoping to get through in the next few months are:
The Age Of Innocence - Edith Wharton
As You Like it - William Shakespeare
Sorell & Son - Warwick Deeping
Sister Carrie -Theodore dreiser
The Scarlet Letter - Nathaniel Hawthorne
The Quiet American - Graham Greene
The Unbearable Lightness of Being - Milan Kundera
Sexual Politics - Kate Millet
Wonder Boys - Michael Chabon
Geralds Game - Stephen King
The Color Purple - Alice Walker
they're my heavy books though, no doubt i'll be reading some guilty pleasures in between
A midwife and you read 100 books. where you find the time!
200 books in a year?! Whaaat. I thought I read lots, I'm happy when I finish a book in under a bloody week.
omg it can be done trust me
set it on 100 :)
never done it b4
what are you reading though is it short books or what
currently reading a few, was never a reader until recently so would never get anything near 100 in a year
fellowship of the ring
god, no
everything's eventual
and got all game of thrones books to maybe read at some point
And I thought I was proud to get through 30 last year.. No doubt aiming for higher this year but I doubt I'll make 100. Congrats though gl with the 200 wow
That's really impressive Shar, well done! If loads of people get involved and start posting in this frequently with books that they've read and start talking about them/rocemmending them, I'll see about getting it stikied
Wow that's amazing! I do love reading but I don't ever really have the time to read. I've 4 (1 is a compilation of works so dunno if that counts???) atm to read. When I do get reading normally I fly through them!
here's my list

Sputnik Sweetheart - Haruki Murakami
Thirteen Reasons Why - Jay Asher
Interpreter of Maladies - Jhumpa Lahiri
1984 - George Orwell

I'm currently reading The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd
I'll share my reading list for January later :)
i used to read chick lit to learn and improve my english but recently i'm starting to read more books of diff genres, non-fic as well
100 books this year hopefully cause i've got plenty of time til march
@Shar you should sign up for the books from the goodreads first read program or start a book review site, i know someone who does it and it's pretty successful and he gets books for free
i might be tempted to go give it a go if it can include textbooks ;p
good luck on the 200 books though shar :)
http://www.goodreads.com/giveaway they only have a few copies for each book but i thought you'd have a better chance of getting them cause of the books you've read and your activity on the site are some of the choosing factors, you could try it out
what's the progress everyone
i'm on my first book - the testament by john grisham been reading it for a week don't think i'll be able to complete 30 books this year ...lol
ok this book is bad i cant read it anymore im throwing it in the trash. progress 0/30
no idea how you can read 2 books in a night, you are some kind of machine. last year it took me like a week each for the game of thrones books, never reading them again. this year so far the only new fiction books i have read are farenheight 451 by ray badbury, the elegance of the hedgehog by muriel barbery and darkly dreaming dexter/dearly devoted dexter by jeff lindsay. hoping to get through the other 5 dexter books in next couple of weeks if work deadlines permit it. if nonfiction books count then i am at around 20-30 lol
@Shar; do u read only ebooks?
i have more important things to do than read
like slit my wrists
I've still not got round to reading JK Rowling's new book yet, bought it months ago.
I could do 200, probably already did (last year (summer) ). But itd have to be a bunch of manga books. :P
finished the lovely bones by alice sebold such a nice book. progress 2/30
next up diary of a young girl by anne frank
gonna start off with the book thief lol
@Kyle nope and the only reason I was able to read 2 books a night is because I could barely fall asleep until 5 in the morning or whatever so reading is what I did.
