Tonight I am going to pick up my new PS3 thanks to @Chris; who suggested it. It comes with GTA V, and was wondering what I should do when I first play the game. Go on a killing spree, earn money or just walk about? Thank you :)

hmm well i have only playe gta3 but i think doing some of the quests to get a feel of the place is always a good way to start any game like this
make sure you pick the convertible its a lot more fun to play with
Start off with some story missions to get a feel for it. That should get you some money to start with :)

The simplest answer is: whatever you want. Just turn it on, install and see what you immediately want to do after the first few missions which essentially introduce you to the game anyway.
GTA V lets you play the game your way. The whole map is open from the start.
I did the story though.. love the characters. Unfortunately I don't play it any more as I have a PS4.
you could always try and steal jet from the military base for your first task.
That could be quite entertaining. ;)
