HXSS SUGGESTION

Can it be made this year that Staff/Event Hosts must report their points etc in public rather in a forum hidden away from normal users who aren't staff. It's clear over the years that staff cannot report points correctly, sometimes they don't even do it at all.
It's never noticed by management its usually noticed by a few member of staff, so unless your staff if points go missing you have no idea that they are going missing because its impossible to keep track of thousands of points over the two weeks.

Its not like some secret information is reported within the thread or whatever, If it so the winner can't be leak before the final leader-board update then that's stupid because a staff member could easily add them up! and everyone usually has a good idea who is gonna win anyways.

Teams need an even distribution too. Balances to prevent 1 team (green team this year it seems) from overfilling need to be put into place.

Don't see any reason to keep points private but also don't rlly see any reason to have them public. They'll be checked and rechecked by more than 1 person and if events from the timetable aren't in the points thread then the hosts can be chased up. All it will really cause is players harassing hosts "UPDATE MY POINT I JUST GOT NOW" etc.

Were there any noticeable problems last year

Well I know deffo that points were v. regularly posted wrong and if I wasn't staff I wouldn't have been able to correct them. It would be good if maybe a summary of points could be posted at the end of the day or something.

that don't where you have won your points from, just your final score. lmao I will keep a record of my own points!!

Mistakes happen but it's not that frequent and are easily fixable (and even "unofficial point-counters" - those people that religiously keep track of their own points - can make mistakes). They'd happen whether it was posted in public or not though so it doesn't matter either way imo. As for stopping teams from overfilling, teams close when they're full but the trick to avoid that is to get newbies on Habbo who win the odd game here and there to join [insert team that's closed] and eos just write it down so it requires vigilance from general management really to stick with the team lists available. The red team's lead last year shouldn't have been as high as it was and this was due to general mgmt taking the points at face value and just adding them rather than taking the attention it needs to avoid cheating as much as possible.

Could always have a coded point reporting system so that hosts can easily immediately report them and users can instantly see that they've received the points.

think this really needs to be sorted to be honest. wouldn't be difficult to sort out would it?

It's kinda depressing when you're not on one of the two teams that's obviously going to win and all because there's only 3 active people on your team.

the staff distribution makes little difference tbh. it's all about who the active players are, both staff and non-staff, and there is no way management would be able to do teams based on activity. after my dismal first year as green team leader, the next few years I recruited all the non-staff addicts and won 2 (or maybe it was 3) times in a row. unless players are randomly assigned to teams, which would ruin the whole point of the event, you're not going to get around that.

at them. Personally, I think it's why hxss is so good at bringing in new people and if teams are randomly assigned then that would be gone.

Randomly assign accounts older than 1 year.

I don't want to play on a team that already has lots of active players, there's no competition this year aside from between blue and green. Going to have to either quit like Gina did and not host any events o join rare values so that I can get on the black team. Sort out staff distribution it makes no sense ughhj

It's all a big lottery anyway you might get 40 people right at the start to join your team by shouting at them then none of them ever appear again or you might get 5 and 3 of them become regulars who get masses of points for you, that side of things only needs regulating when certain teams have 90%+ of the players in all of the games but otherwise isn't really a problem with a genuine solution.

As for points being public, can't see an issue with that but let's make it -50 points for green every time Kirsty complains about the scores given

It hasn't even started yet lol you can't determine which teams are going to be most active until it actually starts. its only after the first day has already been complete that you'll have a more accurate picture. for instance yes gina has been posting around saying blue blue blue but shes also away for the first couple of days. for instance yes drew has been posting around for the green team but he's also australian and international users tend to be at a distinct disadvantage with habbox events. it's all about who's active on habbo not the forum.

On the team side, it does seem very obvious that there are two teams which the majority of people seem tow ant to be on but I'm not sure what the best way to get around that is - obviously we can cut off people getting on that team, but by the time we do that it's still probably gonna have the top 10 most active players on it or something.

Points-wise, I think it's the worst idea ever to have it in public - although it'd be great for your piece of mind, at least all staff have to have access to post in it, at least, and not forgetting it's easy to get lost when adding points, there could be a lot more accusatory posting within the thread itself, not what we really want to be presenting, especially with the amount of new people who are getting their first impressions of Habbox during HxSS, as we do have a lot of people join during - and a lot who leave due to some attitudes as well.

If anyone wins an event and doesn't think their points have been recorded, we'll do anything we can to investigate it and try and figure it out: with the amount of senior staff (talking more HxL here because that's where most of the points problems stemmed from last year) there'll usually be someone listening in to let them know what's going on. It'll never get to the stage where there's enough unreported points to make any real difference to the scores.

Why not make the points reporting thread view-only? It's simple enough to set the permissions so that it's a subforum of the HxSS main forum where all members can view so only staff can post (similar to the old settings in the "Ask the Staff" forums). This way there will only be points reporting done in those threads. You can make the rule that you have to PM whoever is in charge of points if you notice a discrepancy, this way the arguments can be kept off the forum. If it becomes a big enough issue, you could even go draconian and say that if someone posts their points-related complaint on the forum, they forfeit the right to have it reviewed, but I honestly think just saying that people have to PM for point resolution is enough without taking further measures.

I think there's a fair point, unless you know exactly how many points you have it's hard to track it, and in a day where there are 10 events held in a row, people might not notice that one is missing (especially as some people don't report it until the end).

RE: Teams, I think management does close teams from time to time when one team gets too large. The problem isn't a ridiculous number of people (though sometimes it is, but not always) but sometimes even though the teams are the same size, the active Habbo-based core is bigger on one team.

As I stated earlier in this thread, a purpose built system would be trivial to implement (5 hour job max). You wouldn't have accusatory posting since you can't post to a purpose built system and any complaints would have to go to the support forum as they'd be about a specific forum member - not that you'd get any anyway as hosts would be able to add the points instantly and the user would see this.

The principle issue is all the active people join teams on the first day and management are always far too slow to react to balance teams.

I think laura's concern was that the staff would be inflammatory posting. Which doesn't make any sense, but sure.

how are they too slow? it was the first day the red team got closed last year. they just got sloppy adding the points.

It needs to be faster than first day, it needs to be checked on a twice hourly basis for the first ~12 hours.

Aren't these typically managed usergroups where you request to join and one of the team leaders has to accept you? So I'm sure they can manage it satisfactorily with that if they communicate well. Obviously you don't want to hold it very strictly, I think even 70 on one team while 50 on another team is fine. You just don't want 100 on one team and 50 on the others.

I don't think a rule really need stating, it should be rather implicit that the thread is for reporting points and not casual discussion.

The final team numbers as you stated earlier are pretty irrelevant, what is important is achieving a balance in the active users and the way to do this is to get them balanced nice and early.

lmaooooo as nvr says it's not number of people, its the number of active people and it takes longer than 12 hours to see a trend. with the lack of events these days I'll be surprised if the first 12 hours will even give enough 'data' to work with.

Which is exactly my point. The active people generally join earlier than inactive. If someone goes to events once a week then they can feasibly signup as late as a week in, whereas if someone goes to events twice a day then they can feasibly signup as late as 12 hours in. It's not a perfect model, but it's better than waiting a day, realising all the active people are on one team and then realising it's too late to do anything about it.

no because not just active people sign up early, most people on habbox sign up when it opens. whether they play is an entirely different matter. it's really only the non-members or people who are away and start quite late that sign up later on. Even if it is 12 hours all the active people will have signed up by then so it still doesn't solve anything. signing up is different to going to an event because signing up takes 5 minutes on the forum so everyone does it pretty quickly. this also ignores the fact the team leaders need to register them in first, that can also take a while depending on how active they are at sorting it out. again, you can only determine it when the first batch of points have been counted out and after going to a few events and seeing for yourself, all of which does not solve the problem. you're trying to solve an unsolvable problem really.

Regardless, as long as you evenly distribute people at regular intervals when the bulk sign up in the first 12 hours you should roughly evenly distribute the active users too.

all im saying is let staff post them in public in the thread thats usually used rather than have it hidden!!i dont expect a change to how they are reported or who reported them just that everyone can see it. i dont see an issue there
