I have a long and serious hatred for onions. I've never found a solution to the eye watering issue, despite trying a bunch of things.
My mum is currently chopping onions 4 rooms away and I'm just sat with bloodshot eyes filled with tears. To those of you who don't suffer, I envy you so much!
Does anyone have any solutions to the onion situation? Plzzzzzz
I wear sunglasses but it sounds like yours is so much worse than mine.

Oh wow that's pretty bad. My eyes water if I am chopping them up but I'm no where near as bad as that!
I don't really get watery eyes when chopping onions. You should wear some nice, tight fit swimming goggles. You'd look awesome, too.
apparently if you have a glass of water next to you it helps
or chewing gum

Sometimes I'm alright and sometimes it makes me cry. It sounds like you are really sensitive to it though (or the onions are really really strong). I have no actual solution though. I might try the chewing gum one.
peel it under the water onion has some compound thats soluble in water or something appaz and that is the compound that makes u tear

I'd have to suggest with everyone else about goggles.
I've heard that chewing gum helps but I've not yet tried that theory.
Mine water if I'm chopping them. Never had an issue with me just being in the same room as them
I was chewing gum at the time tbh, didn't make a difference, maybe that helps if you're nearby or something. Honestly though, it was a disaster, windows were all open and doors were closed but it crept up on me. If I buy goggles and look ridiculous and they don't work it will be the most embarrassing point in my life.
Hi, please refrain from chopping onions unless my safety goggles are on.
I might try it though, I look like a fool anyway.
I always have a damp cloth for my eyes when cooking with them because mine would sting. The goggles would prob work.
