Phone connected to pipe and wires in Old Trafford toilet.@talkSPORT ON AIR LIVE
I hope my bets get refunded, Newcastle are messing up my accas anyway :P
Oh it actually was a bomb, I thought maybe they were just being super cautious (understandable) but if it's actually a bomb, jeez good thing it was seen.
I do love some of the jokes on twitter about it though lol. "Staff found a suspicious package and now they're going to pass it sideways for 90 minutes"
If it is a bomb (and it can be detonated), one would have thought it would go off pretty soon? Unless it's a ring the phone style detonation, in which case it could be done at any time.

Latest update: A controlled explosion has just been carried out within the stadium by bomb disposal experts at Old Trafford. More to follow.

Someone from work took the weekend off and flew up to Manchester yesterday for the match today, I imagine he'll be a bit peed off now!! At least someone noticed it before anything serious happened :O
The latest from Greater Manchester Police:
Bomb disposal experts carried out controlled explosion at Old Trafford on what is described as incredibly lifelike explosive device...
— Greater Manchester Police (@gmpolice) May 15, 2016So looks like while the device they found wasn't actually going to blow up but still looked very lifelike etc. It looks like they made the right call anyway by the sounds of it all.Full assessment now concluded and found device wasn’t viable. A full search of the stadium is ongoing. Full update to follow.

Turns out it was a training device left by a private company. No wonder it looked real... :P
Surely that's super illegal doing that

So these private companies don't think "hmmm we are missing a fake bomb... shall we alert someone?" ... "na, just let it be. We will know it's been found when there is breaking news that the stadium has a bomb scare and they evacuate 70k people, easier that way"
Idiots.
probably just saying it's a training device so people panic less about actual bombs
Would of sucked to of been this guy, until the club gave him a ticket to the FA Cup Final :)
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-manchester-36300280
He was invited by Man U Supporters Trust not the Club itself :P
Also worth noting he wasn't really given a ticket to the FA Cup Final as he already had one, and all tickets are allowed into the rematch. His flight was changed so he could watch the rearranged match though.
There was plenty of different examples yesterday though of people coming across the world to see it.
Training passed.
Well done Man U staff.
Stories on the BBC news / BBC Sports website indicate that there was a 'Suspicious Package' inside of the stadium. Therefore evacuating everyone from the premises.
The match was called of due to the Police's advice making it safer for everyone attending. A bomb disposal team, and the Fire & Rescue team were called to the scene,
where they carried out a controlled explosion on the suspected device.
From where I am from, people believe it was a security training operation that went bad, as they forgot to remove the 'dummy' device. Could they be wrong? OR
Are they onto something here?
Do Old Trafford's Security division need re-trained or even re-hired?
Let me know below, as I'd love to see your thoughts and views.

Thread merged by Chris (Forum Moderator): As there is already a thread discussing this.
There's already a thread about this on the day that it happened.
It was a dummy pipe bomb that was left over from a training exercise as it was mistakingly noted as retrieved.
Why would they need retrained?
I didn't see the thread, my bad. - Plus it would have cost a fortune as they would have to give all the customers their money back over a simple mistake. Hence the re-training to prevent it from happening again. If not re-trained briefed on it to make sure they don't miss little things like this again.
The company who left the device aren't Old Trafford staff, it was an independent training company afaik.
Again, as far as I'm aware on the day of a game they have dogs do rounds on the place, as the device was a fake and not an actual bomb the dogs wouldn't be bothered by it.
