So I've come to realise that this marketing manager thing wasn't just a custom usertitle and is an actual thing that habbox has implemented since I was last here. What's the point of it exactly? What is the role description, in layman terms? Why is The Box being marketed to non-habbo users? What's being done about driving HABBO traffic to the site? PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND :(

There's also a more slim lined registration which cuts out most of the unneeded parts of it. I believe Ross and MattG helped get that rolling too, but obviously members won't really know that as they already have an account!Quote:

I think if his ideas are good you can't really afford to ignore them unless your dept is either a) running well already or b) you have your own good ideas
Which recently on habbox both of those seem to be hard to come across haha ;)
If help is being refused there has to be a reason for it. Perhaps managers don't want somebody who has no idea how a department is run to be meddling in their business?
As for the box the reason we're removing Habbo references is most people don't want HABBOX NEWSLETTER LOOK AT THIS HABBO EVENT AND HABBO IMAGE in their email inbox. We'll talk about events and things we've been up to you and are doing without using direct screenshots or big word references to Habbo itself so people have it on their phones and things and don't have to worry about it popping up - therefore more likely to subscribe!
For example, we can say "It's August and that can only mean one thing! The Summer Spectacular is back and this year, we're giving away a top prize of ____c!!"
Or, last month we had a fun week of content-related events for our annual content week. All our members got to go back to university! You can still see what was available here *link* - we'd love to hear your feedback!"

Well technically he isn't meddling in anyone's business or department, if managers just listen to him they would understand that to a point. He's there to give ideas, which managers can look into more or decide against them. As far as I'm aware, the 'idea' he suggested for competitions was to have more titles that are clickbait so members will want to enter them more, I can see that that advice wasn't taken, but I had no idea they refused his help/ideas. I rarely enter competitions, as I used to look forward to new ones being posted every day instead of every week like it is now (for example, there's 2 running now until the end of the month).Quote:

Don't think there's a need for a marketing manager when there are roles already in place who should be doing that job but at the same time, even if I would agree with the idea that the method of going for older members seems a bit moot, at least someone's doing something. My aunty does SEO as her job so I know from her babbling that there can be some improvement for websites if they use social media/search engines more wisely and perhaps that role is something that wouldn't fit under the AGM responsibilities and requires someone seperate even if I'm not 100% convinced that SEO is as good as they make out (don't tell my aunty lol she'd kill me)*.
*I mention this because it looked from the announcement that this was also a part of the role but it looks like it's branched out into AGM duties as well.
As far as I'm aware the newsletter thing isn't JUST being sent to the oldies who've signed up to it but also (and in fact, primarily) to email addresses that used to be active here but haven't been for X amount of time, so really it's more about drawing in people who already have/had some interest here but might have forgotten about Hx or something. No idea whether it'll work or not but that's the idea as I understand it rather than being a feature for people who are already around

Organisations I'm involved with have similar alumni newsletters to keep those who have left updated with progress and goings on and I'm quite sure that habbo still sends out emails about recent promotions and such, I just don't think that The Box is the best format for that at habbox. From what I understand, this marketing manager is focusing on non-habbo players. There is no use streamlining registration if marketing is targeted at older members, is there? What's being done to MARKET to HABBOs?
So I'm doing a few different things for Habbox, one is testing the current traffic, Habbox gets a tonne of traffic each day, yet doesn't actually engage with them, the people may view, but not register. I'm going to change that so they not only register, but then engage in posting etc.Quote:

I don't believe The Box will work. It's being sent to members via their email so perhaps someone might look at it for nostalgia sake because they haven't been here for 3 years and remember it back when they were a kid. They may even log in for a little bit (if they can remember their password) but that's as far as it would go as they've already moved on.
I think Kyle's point is that the most effective marketing would be on Habbo as that is where the new userbase are. I would agree with that.

The email's CTA wasn't really COME BACK, it was more pushed towards the box.
But the next email... should be excellent.
Can't say I'm a huge fan of being blamed for nothing being done - apart from the register page wanting to be done, I can't say I've seen much else done apart from The Box! Not saying the register thing isn't gonna help (I have no idea if it will) - but this isn't the only thing you should be able to do. :P
