Garden updates

I wondered if anyone was into gardening/likes nature type things and we could share some photos in this thread through the summer.

I posted a while ago I was training a number of rambling roses up the house/trees, and here is my Alberic Barbier rambling rose that's been in less than a year and is already about 11ft tall. Will eventually reach heights of 20-25ft and has beautiful white/yellowy apple-scented flowers.

He looks so happy and healthy.

Prefer house plants as they need less love.

Oh wow thats grown a fair amount.. I have an ability to kill anything living.. Mum gave me a plant 2 weeks ago (unsure why) but she said it only needs watering once a week, which is ideal for me, but I bet I'll still murder it :)

My house is filled with real looking fake plants because I do like how they look etc, but I don't like looking after them.. Ironic that I want kids

See I'm the opposite, I find house plants quite difficult but outdoor plants really easy. But then I am drawing on 18 years experience!!!

Garden update: still not got one

Been trying to grow some chilli plants inside though which are going ok, got 4 of a decent size that I thinkkkk are about to bud, yum yum

Carolina :P they're mental, not a big fan though because it's basically JUST heat without the flavour. Not sure what variety mine are as I was given the seeds but hoping for something that's tasty as well as having a kick! Loving your wisteria arch, very romantic

He's grown another 2ft at least in 11 days and his first flowers are opening.

It's growing so fast!!! I love that the flowers are just starting to bloom x-x

Front bed roses (Rosa Rugosas, also known as the Beach Rose) starting to open.

Most of them are only 1 year old, put them in last year as 1ft sticks and have showered them in feed. They flower all summer so should be a good show, bees LOVE them.

So much greeeeen it's lovely seeing things come to life again, hadn't realised until the last few days (where it suddenly got hot and sunny) what a pants spring we've had here this year

I know, there really is nothing like Britain in the spring/summer when all the foilage is lush and out.

Notice my Copper Beech hedge? Planted it a few years ago to contrast with the greenery in the middle.

Another update.

Grown even more so my mum and brother have put higher supports in just now.

Hi! Not been around for a bit but just popping by to say how lovely your garden is :-) I love gardening but I can’t keep on top of it. How long did it take for your wisteria to get to where it is now and how much care needed? I have a lovely laburnum tree and plenty of lilacs and roses but I dont think I could manage a wisteria..

Paul Noel rambling rose opened up even more.

I would recommend a Wisteria. Everyone says they're monsters, and they sort of are, but they're not that hard to control. They usually send out these soft green runners that you just need to clip back with scissors two or three times in the summer. Any runners you want to form a new leader branch, just tie with a cable tie to the structure.

I actually have two Wisteria, one is on the house to hide the drainpipes although it never flowers for some strange reason. Below is a photo of the bigger one which isn't fully open in the photo yet. The older one I have had for maybe 8 years, and the younger one on the archway maybe 6 years. But I keep both in check every summer.

Excuse the general untidiness on some of the photos, I am not actually home yet and these are what my parents have sent so I need to do loads of smartening the place up when I am home at the end of this month.
