Scars makes it looks better (goes with the eyes) and they aren't shorts, they're shaded bits.

If he's wearing nothing, why has he got a black line where the shirt usually ends? The tail could do with some shading, with the top bit lighter and the bottom darker, and maybe a tad less ridgid.
