I clenched my hands and released them, breathing quickly and counting in my head. I was up to 4352 now.. My heart was racing and the tears were streaming down my cheeks.
Kimmy had fallen asleep on my shoulder so I tried not to shake to wake her up as I wept. Lewis had pulled the curtains to the window because seeing the huge wing of the plane had made me instinctively sick. He sat beside me now, he had been kneeling beside me in the aisle holding on to my hand to calm me but a hostess had asked him to return to his seat.
The plane touched down in Swiss Land and it was grey and cold. I practically fell down the steps from the plane, once inside Kimmy and Lewis left me in a coffee shop (head on table) as they went to find our bags and order a cab.
We hadn't ordered a cab before departure, we didn't know who to call and we didn't want to ask Lissie because we were coming to suprise her.
In the past months we had learnt alot about Swiss Land. Kimmy had done several hundreds of experiments into the nature of chocolate, Lewis had set about finding us jobs in Lissie's town and I had found us a house. It hadn't been easy, who would rent a house to people who, as a rule, lived in another country. We had finally managed to arrange that we would go to the office on our first day in Switzerland and sign the contracts and spend the first five days in a hotel.
Of course Kimmy and I weren't as innocent as we seemed and we managed to find a credit card back in England to charge a 5 star suite to.. we all fled from our lives in England. I was running from my self, truth be told, Kimmy from the people in her town and I think Lewis came to make sure Kimmy and I didn't end up dead in a ditch.
The cab was warm, I gazed out the window still feeling very sick with Kimmy next to me asking Lewis how to buy condoms in german shops. I was smiling at the insanity of the conversation but unable to join in.
At the hotel a porter took our things to our rooms and we resolved not to look at our rooms until the contracts had been signed.
Kimmy said she wanted to try out her newly translated German phrase and went to the hotel shop to buy cigarettes and condoms. She returned later that night with french cigarettes, gloves and an action figurine of luke skywalker.
Lewis went to sign the contracts, I waited outside. I wanted a cigarette, I'd never smoked but I wish I did. I put my back against the cold bricks and closed my eyes. It was just cooling down, although it was quite cold enough and my fingers were numb.
"Hey"
I opened my eyes "hey" I smiled at Lewis, he held up some papers in front of my eyes and grinned "we got it" I stared at them, snatched them from his hands and read them greedily, I gasped. "oh my god" I whispered and he laughed.
we now owned a 4 bedroom house in Switzerland.
We moved all our things into the house two days later, we were going to continue staying at the hotel but some things we wanted to be kept safe.
Kimmy went to have the keys cut and Lewis and I stood for a long time looking at things. "Its perfect" I said, and he nodded. It had almost no furniture, for a while at least I knew I'd be sleeping in a pile of my own clothes. We had however, bought a bed. For lissies room.
We had decided three months ago to move to Switzerland, not much time to organise so much. But we'd done it, by selling most of our things back in england we had the money to do all this.
I remembered the first conversation about it, the day Lissie left. The three of us, met at my house for coffee, we curled up on the sofas in silence. We each knew we couldnt just let lissie dissapear from our lives, but what could we do about it.
"We'll move"
Kimmy said it and it was an instant decision. We'll move.
I knocked on the door, One-thirty-five Rivendale Street. I held my breath.
"Hi is Lissie in?" I asked. The gruff nod and dissapearing figure was my reply. I heard a clattering of footsteps as a girl ran down the stairs.
"Lissie?"
She frowned "Do I know you?"
