    Default Firework Safety

    Its nearly that time of the year again... This year has gone so fast its nearly the day of fireworks and bonfires again. Yes Its nearly 5th November.



    The Firework Code
    • Keep fireworks in a sealed box or tin

    • Use them one at a time, replacing the lid immediately

    • NEVER put fireworks in your pocket

    • Read the instructions carefully, using a torch or hand lamp NEVER use a naked flame

    • Light fireworks at arms length using a taper or a firework lighter

    • Stand well back and NEVER return to a firework after it has been lit, it could explode in your face

    • Ensure that all chidren with fireworks are well supervised

    • NEVER throw fireworks

    • Keep all pets and animals indoors

    • Take care of sparklers, wear gloves to hold them and dispose of sparklers in a bucket of water as soon as they are finished.

    Safety
    • Have adult supervision, never give fireworks to children.

    • Use protective eyewear.

    • Use outdoors only.

    • Always have water handy (bucket & hose).

    • Follow all instructions Never experiment or make own fireworks.

    • Light on a smooth flat surface away from the house, dry leaves, trees, and flammable materials

    • Use 'punks' to light fireworks; not lighters, matches or cigarettes.

    • Do not lengthen or shorten the fuse.

    • Do not relight duds wait 15-20 minutes then soak it in a bucket of water.

    • Never ignite in metal or glass containers.

    • Never carry in pockets.

    • Light only one at a time and keep a safe distance.

    • Never throw or aim at people or buildings.

    • Never have any part of body over firework.

    • Dispose of fireworks by soaking them and disposing in a trash can.

    • NO lit cigars, cigarettes, pipes or open flame within 10 feet of fireworks.
