Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - Terrestrial Premier

Mad HP fans without Sky TV will have eagerly anticipated the terrestrial premier of the Philosophers Stone, which did premier on BBC1 on Christmas 2004.

I, and I am sure many of them, will have thought the Chamber of Secrets, second in the series, will have premiered around this Christmas on the same channel. But nope. I have just seen an ad for the Chamber of Secrets to premier next saturday (3rd December) on ITV1!

It strikes me a bit odd that ITV bought the rights for the 2nd film, when normally only one channel buys the rights for a series of films e.g. Channel 4 bought Lord of the Rings trilogy.

But I am very excited to see the second film on TV, so as long as it is shown, I'm not that bothered that it happens to be now, not in a few weeks for Christmas, and on ITV, not BBC1.

So, at 5.15pm on Saturday 3rd December, you HP fans had better sit down, turn ITV1 on, and watch Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
