Media Studies help needed ASAP!!!!!

Ok I have watched the 1969 version of the italian job and we had to make film posters about the film.
I have moved onto the evaluation of the poster and the way we have to evaluate the poster is by deconstructing the process.
1) Watching the film
2) The brief
3) Planning
4) Denotation & Connotation
5) Effectivness

I am stuck on 3

Planning -> Outlines any codes and conventions.

What does this mean????

well uh.. generic conventions are things you'd expect for a certain type of genre.
So i expect it's something to do with that..

Media Studies are good if you want to be something like a MultiMedia Designer

Codes are what can be seen which tell us something, for example:

:eusa_wall - Annoyance
:eusa_danc - Happy
- Bored.

You should really know this and ask your teacher, thats what they are there for.
