vB Theme Question

I have a theme, if I give it some child themes and edit the colours, will it keep the templates, and if I edit the templates on the top theme will it edit them for the child themes?

Cause I want to make more themes but make sure all the templates stay the same, and if I have 5 themes and I want to edit a template I don't want to have to edit 5 templates.
